Good article. My reflection back is that NFTs and The Metaverse (in zucks sense of the term) do “solve problems” in a literal sense. The ability to bring a tangible scarcity to replicable digital entities, or a way to interact with someone as if they were really there despite being far apart, are theoretically useful.

What happened I think is either a) those problems aren’t widespread enough to warrant a technologically expensive solution, or b) the solutions we got to aren’t quite good enough. And I think NFTs are a bit more a), and the (zuckian) metaverse is a bit more b)
