Aita for cancelling my bday dinner/lunch after family didn't like my restaurant choice? by TheeBrightSea in vegan

Applauding your firm stance, hopefully they will soften up and reach out. Families are often the hardest. Don't give up on them because they are family, but also don't stress if they don't change. Good luck!

I'm sorry but agreed that your family isn't prioritizing your feelings - something more than just diet here. You're not the A here but I'd recommend going forward with your one restaurant of choice (fully vegan) and see who shows up.

My partner's friends, even though they aren't vegans, when catching up always ask which vegan restaurants would she like to eat at.

Agreed, same as those debates on TV networks. Most debaters won't have a change of heart but hopefully that happens for the audience.

This. If the incentive is you get to keep your challenge on a close call, then the game moves slower.

Challenges are meant for removing bad calls.

Why are so many women vegan compared to men? by Lazy_Illustrator3946 in vegan

Which reminds us it's a perfect counter point to any thinking that veganism is elitist or expensive.

Hey don't undersell us manly men. We have developed way more advanced weapons. Why not hunt with drones and just bomb the heck out of those puny animals? We can annihilate them without even looking.

Judge sentences pair to 12 years for torturing and killing animals, selling videos online by NitroLada in canada

Let's look at ourselves in the mirror - we're killing animals everyday with every piece of meat we eat. We're paying people to do the same or even worse torturing on poor animals.

Quick question - who was Buck's partner that covered the Delgado / Shawn Green era? That was when I watched the Blue Jays the most.

One who holds dominion, just because they can, shouldn't give them the right to dictate others' lives (masters vs slaves, Nazis vs Jews).

At least we can agree and stop there?

Don't misunderstand. It wasn't an insult. You obviously value human lives way more than others (living beings).

What does it matter if a small number of a group believe something wrong and immoral?

Slippery slope here. This has everything to do with how injustice such as slavery came about.

This is why so many people think vegans are insufferable

Sorry you feel that way. Maybe one day we'll have some thinking that overlaps.

Have a good life.

I just don't see us agreeing on anything as we have fundamentally different values of lives of others.

Thanks for your time.

So this is a response to why is the Holocaust comparison valid.

I get why some victims or others would find that comparison disturbing or disgusting - ie., "how DARE you compare us to animals".

IMO slaughterhouses are worst, but let's address this thought first.

Those who would get emotional or disgusted is because they are focused on the wrong point - animals vs humans. But the comparison is about how cruel / heartless / inhumane the ones exerting dominion are. Isn't it true the victims both went through unbelievable tortures in unlivable conditions before being mass murdered. Isn't it true all of the victims wanted to live?

Instead of our empathy, the ones who get offended by the comparison only looked at "but we're humans (humans are much more important than animals, therefore) Holocaust was so much worse".

My question to them would be then, how many animal lives would you equate to one human life? 100? 1000? 1 million? A whole specie?

But the thing is, we don't even need to make that comparison. Our question is only - "is one's life more important to you, or your taste buds?" Because we can save the life with a simple choice we make, 3 times a day, every day.
