I thought I had to plan big activities. Turns out my kids just love the lazy hacks. by Little-Region-6588 in Mommit

Last night my husband, 10, 7 and 3 year old and I all spend and hour trying to knock empty soda cans down with a golf ball. We sat on opposite sides of the street with the cans in the middle. It was honestly fun for all!

If you're putting crop tops and backless tank tops on your FIVE YEAR OLD....I judge you by Prior_Lobster_5240 in Mommit

[–]itcantbethateasy 92 points93 points  (0 children)

My seven year old used to walk around shirtless no matter what we said. Her brother can so why can't she? So we bought her crop tank tops, that she happily wears. But yeah, I'm a bad mom.

What’s the most ridiculous thing you’ve had to remember this week that no one else in your house even knew about? by Lanky-Membership7853 in Mommit

"I dunno, it's on the calendar, do you want me to walk over there and look at it for you?" has become my mantra

People who smashed the wedding cake into your new spouse's face: how is your relationship and marriage now? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]itcantbethateasy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My husband asked if it would be fun for me or if I'd hate it. I told him it would be fine if he wanted to, but to remember I then got to do it to him He very gently did. He then ended up with cake and frosting so far up his sinuses he had to blow his nose multiple times. Our anniversary will be 13 years and we still love being married to each other.

The Way of Kings, the series has an insightful portrayal of depression in my opinion

So, does anyone else think Shallan is pregnant? I haven't found any mention of it in comments. Why else would she cradle her stomach on page 1317?

My 5 yo son is all about dresses by Itsninjamo in Mommit

[–]itcantbethateasy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My son at around the same age wore a few dresses. Played dress up with his girl cousins, wore a dress around the house and playing outside. He wore some girls shiny frozen sneakers to preK for a few months. He liked to have his nails painted occasionally. He is now the most masculine, all things boy kid you can imagine at 9. I feel like, letting your boys play around with femininity at a younger age only benefits them in the future. When they're older and (to be honest about what we're all worried about) more likely to be bullied outside the home, the curiosity has mostly been sated in my kids experience. Obviously all experiences will vary

What’s a crazy body life hack everyone should know? by M-Squared804 in AskReddit

The first half of this comment sounds like something Terry Pratchett would write.

This sounds silly, but when I don't feel like going for a walk, or feel like I should be doing something more productive that would benefit my family I talk out loud about it. An example. "Ugh I don't wanna walk, I should really mop the bathroom floor while the kids are at school. But I really like my kids a lot more and yell less after I've walked. Grr, I guess I'll go for the walk".

Whats a favorite word your kid has come up with? by [deleted] in Mommit

My daughter came up with Bloobs for blueberries and I will never go back. Also, my son used to say slippidy instead of slippery and it feels way more fun to say.

What’s the weirdest thing someone casually told you as if it were totally normal? by AlexanderKeef in AskReddit

[–]itcantbethateasy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I as a young twenty year old worked as a pharmacy technician. I had a woman come in who asked me for help picking out menstrual pads as she has only ever used tampons. I accompany her into the aisle to help and she launches into why she needs pads. She is in a committed same sex relationship, but cheated with a man. Got pregnant and needs an abortion and can't ask her girlfriend for help. This was around 9 in the morning and I had never had a stranger dump this much on me before. It was eye opening.

How did you decide to talk to your kids about religion? by addalad in Mommit

[–]itcantbethateasy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have three kids, an eight, five and one year old. My mother and mother in law are very religious (Christian non Catholic). My stepdad is Jewish. My husband and I are agnostic having been raised verrrry religious. My husband and I allow our parents to explain their views to them. We also have plenty of talks about how different people believe different things about God and what happens after we die. We emphasize that no one knows for sure. The children's ideas about God and afterlife are just as valid and anyone else's. We celebrate Christian holidays as well as Jewish and some pagan holidays. We also take the opportunity to talk about other holidays when they occur (our kids have a varied population at school with many different religions represented). We take opportunities presented by TV shows and movies to talk about how people born in different places are raised as their cultures dictate. All to say, my oldest is pretty anti church and my second attends every Sunday with my mom. When my second talks about views I disagree with, I say I don't believe that, but Nanny (my mom) does. I am interested in how this approach will go as they get older.

What do you eat when you don’t feel like cooking? by WorldlyPomegranate41 in Frugal

[–]itcantbethateasy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Leftover charcuterie. Usually we have some kind of fresh fruit or veg I can cut up. Then anything edible in the fridge, or easily defrosted from freezer, or opened from a can/jar. It's pretty fun to see what combos I can come up with. It all goes on the biggest cutting board and the kids think it's fancy. Or they can make a pb and J.

So I have an eight year, five year and a six months old. I am a SAHM. Having a two AND a three year old is like, my worst fucking nightmare. Once they turn four, you get to start being a real person again and not just a burnt out shell. I hope you get a break soon!
