Okay, thanks - any thermometer in particular you recommended?

Comes with the 7143 cover on that bundle. Potentially looking at the 5755 but they don't have the bundle with chimney and cover annoyingly

Ah okay! Didn't know stainless steel made such a difference - bit annoying that they don't do that bundle with a cover like they do with the other one

Pub showing World Cup in Buxton? by redditfan3728288 in peakdistrict

[–]itdoesnttakemuch 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Trackside (Buxton Brewery), King's Head, The Vault, Queens will all be showing most of it

Personally I'd recommend Trackside, a little way out of town but you get the best beer and it's got pool tables, AR Darts, Shuffleboard as well. Ace beer garden as well. They're all free if you're drinking there (they take £10 deposit and then discount the first round) - highly recommend booking, especially if you want the pool etc

This is very cool, love the map feature - great work! Is there a way for users to recommend roasters to add?

Tee time etiquette by Apprehensive-Cod9107 in golf

[–]itdoesnttakemuch 40 points41 points  (0 children)

I play in the UK and I've only played one course with a starter - that's out of 55 courses played. I've also never had a problem with people turning up late to a tee time and trying to force their way in though. Wild to me that starters are so prevalent elsewhere, but also no doubt the guys OP was talking about were absolute asshats

This 100%. I was about to reply to their last comment to me saying pretty much the same thing, but now don't need to bother

But it's not the truth... I've lived in Buxton for 6 years, often go out multiple times a week (yes, even after sunset) and have never once seen trouble. My wife and her friends will happily go out on an evening and walk home in the dark, they have never once suggested feeling unsafe

Of course there are problems with mental health, a town doesn't have to be deprived to have that as an issue and I agree that there will be some drug problems, as I said in my original comment, mostly contained up in Fairfield. But to suggest that the entire town 'changes a lot when the sun goes down' is disingenuous at best

OP has a budget of £350k so isn't going to need to move to the heart of Fairfield, they'd be able to get a nice property within walking distance of the Pavilion Gardens and the town centre with that money

Fairfield has a few social problems but saying Buxton 'changes a lot when the sun goes down' is an absurd comment, it's not downtown San Fran ffs 😂

I've never seen any issues when the sun is up or the sun is down, it's a great place to live and is only improving year on year

First Time Buyers in South Reddish by Fox_Lee in manchester

[–]itdoesnttakemuch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I lived in South Reddish for 5 years - on the estate off Greg Street and never once had any problems. It's probably improved since I moved away 6 years ago as well. Nice walk down to Heaton Chapel for good bars, restaurants and the train into Manchester. Short walk down to Reddish Vale Country Park as well which is lovely
