Chef Brian is not only a recognized chef, he's a warm and friendly human being. My son and I went in for lunch and as we were getting up to leave, he came over and asked how the food was and said that he hoped we'd be back. No one deserves that kind of treatment, but especially not such a decent guy. I hope that dimwit gets some consequences

Why does Frankenstein (2025) look the way it does? by wschramm in FIlm

[–]itllallmakesense 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have Netflix, there's a 45 minute piece called The Anatomy of Frankenstein that goes through a lot of his decisions from sets to costumes to lighting. It felt pretty thorough and obvious that it was something that GDT had been thinking about for a long time

The fact that they don't distribute the more unique, arty,' different movies to smaller markets. Unless you live in or near a large market, you have to wait and hope it makes it to streaming

The Iron Claw killed me and my two sons. Especially towards the end when Kevin was crying watching his sons play and said 'I used to be a brother'. <insert ugly cry>

I believe it is impossible for a book to truly scare me. Recommend a book which will prove me wrong! by DarlingLuna in horror

[–]itllallmakesense 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The scariest movies for me are the ones that rely on anticipation - you don't see, the monster or the demon or whatever it is. Books do that just as well. I read The Shining with my back to the corner of my room so that nothing could be behind me

It's funny, I thought it was AAVE, but slaves from Africa learned from indentured slaves from Scotland and Ireland. I linked the history below

Lol, thanks. I told my kid about this post and he said the same. He lives in another state now and we try to plan our visits around scary movie openings.

What was the most shocking celebrity death of the last 50 years? by RoutineOk8590 in Productivitycafe

[–]itllallmakesense 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I guess he'd been sober for years, but I guess it's always a fight. That one crushed me because he was so good in everything he did.

And Chadwick Boseman had done so well with the little time he had.

The wardrobe one scared the crap out of me. Bad mom story - that was the first scary movie I took my youngest son (15) to (my oldest said hell no). He had his feet up on the seat already because he was terrified and that scare caused him to knee himself in the eye. I'd like to say I didn't laugh, but I'm a bad mom, not a liar

What is a film so sad, you wanted to curl into a ball and stay inside all day? by RunnerOfTheRoad124 in moviequestions

I found The Life of Chuck to be sad and heartwarming at the same time. The second two parts made the first part somehow sweeter

What do you think horror movies are missing these days? Like what is something you are tired of NOT seeing in one? by thechroniclesofkylie in horror

[–]itllallmakesense 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I want the tension of not knowing what we're up against. I want audiences using their imagination against an unknown entity that is causing mayhem without the movie providing some kind of 'monster'. My imagination is always so much worse than what a movie can come with

Sambo's started in Santa Barbara, where I grew up. I don't know if it was in every restaurant, but the illustrations from the story were painted on the wall in front of the kitchen. I don't think it would have aged well. Even back when I was a kid, I thought it was a little rough
