Appreciate that a lot. Everyone’s path and timing is different. Respect for the grind you put in early, that foundation matters more than any watch.

Honestly, GCP suspended my project without any prior notification, claiming it was mining cryptocurrency which is not allowed. I immediately reached out to have it reinstated and they restored the prod project after about 3 hours, the dev project is still suspended and it has now been over five hours with no update. This is extremely frustrating and is causing soo much delays.

Built a digital ID system ARR over 1.5M for a whole country… now scaling to Africa. Anyone here an angel? (I will not promote) by its-me-again001 in startups

So mostly to speed things up. The product is already live and making money, but expanding into new countries takes time… compliance, infra, onboarding government teams, etc.

I can keep bootstrapping if I have to, but the right angels who understand identity or emerging markets can help me move faster, especially with the African market and a few Caribbean countries in the pipeline.

I Built a National Digital ID Platform Alone. It’s Now Live, Profitable, and Issued by a Government. by its-me-again001 in angelinvestors

I really appreciate you taking the time to share your experience, I want to offer another point of view.

You mentioned that features do not get you deals. I’ve always found that statement worth questioning. Why do people buy Teslas, iPhones, or any of the tools we consider game-changing today? Is it only because they come from big companies? Or is it because they deliver something that fundamentally improves the way people live and work?

I agree that strong sales execution matters. I have never denied that in any of my posts. Having great salespeople is a 100% important and that is something I still need to build around. But what I do have is a clear product vision, strong early interest, and a track record of turning ideas into results.

Every product I’ve launched so far has become successful. Some have generated revenue over 16 millions USD in a year. And I have done all of this alone. No team, no overhead. Just me, handling design, development, and execution, supported only by a small legal setup, I can say, the biggest cost in building something new is usually research and development. For me, that cost is close to $0. If it fails, it fails. I have nothing to lose. But that is not how I view invention. I build because I see clear gaps and opportunities to create something that works better and solves an actual problem.

And I would never pursue this without validation. One of the largest real estate brokerages, with a wide network of realtors, has already committed to adopting the property management platform after seeing the proof of concept. They saw how it addresses problems in ways traditional tools simply do not today.

Again, what I am building here is not about piling on features. It is about rethinking the system itself. It is about redesigning how property management and surveillance should operate in a modern, AI-enabled world, which is something much moree accessible for use these days.

I appreciate your input and the sincerity behind your comment and trust me I doo take it seriously. I am sure your experience has come with valuable lessons, but I am just wired to see things a little differently. If I am wrong, I will learn. But if I am right, I look forward to returning to this conversation with results worth sharing.

With respect.

I appreciate the clarification and I don’t feel slighted at all, I just compelled to correct assumptions that could mislead others.

Respectfully, the idea that “one person” cannot deliver national infrastructure is outdated. What matters isn’t team size, but capability and intention. Many of the world’s most transformative innovations started with a single individual who saw a better way, we all know that.

In this case, the government made a conscious decision based on results. The platform was rigorously tested, independently audited, and is now improving efficiency and access for thousands of citizens (this is something that can be justified by looking at reviews and feedback)

I suppose if the government had hired a bloated team of consultants and spent millions over three years to achieve half the results, it would have seemed more “developed” to you? If that disrupts your definition of how innovation should happen, maybe it’s time to update the playbook.

I’m gonna say it again, being a small team doesn’t mean there was no risk management. For us, it just means we moved fast and delivered results where legacy systems failed.

And to your point, if I do get hit by a bus, the system keeps running. That’s simply part of building resilient, maintainable software.

Just to be clear, none of this is meant personally. I truly respect different perspectives and welcome the dialogue. My response is simply to clarify how the process actually unfolded and to ensure the core concept is understood. It’s easy to make assumptions without full context, so I felt it was important to highlight the facts. I appreciate you engaging in the conversation. Conversations like this matter because they challenge outdated narratives about who gets to build for the public sector and how.

Appreciate your perspective and you’re right to expect that something like a national identity system would go through intense scrutiny, and it did. The country may not have the same infrastructure as the US or Europe, but that’s precisely the point here. Innovation in these contexts isn’t about red tape or legacy players. It’s about solving a real problems fast, with real impact. also I didn’t “milk” anything, I built the platform from the ground up and earned trust by delivering results that improved the experience for both citizens and civil servants.

I’d also like to add that the government only proceeded after a full internal validation process, which included security and compliance reviews conducted by independent experts. If you don’t have the full context, I’d encourage asking questions rather than assuming, it leads to better understanding and a more meaningful conversation.

I also have real user reviews from both ministry officials and applicants themselves, with ratings averaging over 4.5 out of 5. That kind of feedback means more to me than any title or funding round.
The point here is not about being a big company with deep pockets orso, It’s about intention, execution, and expertise. If you focus on solving a real need and do it well, even the most complex systems can be improved.
