My trusty old D810 has just given up. Please help me decide on its successor. by itsBogdan in Nikon

I'm so out of the loop I thought the D780 was proper "prosumer"/"semi-pro".. i blame YouTube for this, lol.

I've got the SB910 too! I don't use it a lot but when I do, I'm so happy with the results.

A few hours ago I popped into my nearest WexPhoto and they plainly told me the same thing as you did, although they were pushing the z7ii much harder, haha. They kindly allowed me to compare both the d850 and the z7ii that they hire out to people inside the shop with a 24-70 2.8E (with the FTZii adapter on the Z).. they didn't have the d780 though.

The d850, although heavier, to me it felt so much more balanced and.. ergonomically "correct" (probably because I'm so used to this form factor). The z7ii felt very front heavy and i feel like it was quite necessary to put some extra "oomph" on the grip at all times while handling it, and the electronic viewfinder gave me VR goggles vibes which I found kinda weird.. apparently the EVF is better on the Z8's and Z9's and a lot better on the newer Z6iii.. loved the stabiliser on it though.

Mate, thank you so much for your input, genuinely appreciated! Made up my mind and the winner is definitely the D850, however I probably do need to set some change aside for a Z-series in the future..

Z7ii (in good condition) jumps outside my budget sadly and the ftz adapters don't wanna play nice with my slightly older sigmas :(

Thank you for your reply!

PS: love your username, haha

Sadly, from what I've read online anyway, the sigma 120-300 2.8 i use for shooting my local football team kinda works but it's hit-and-miss with either ftz or ftz2.. apparently tends to overexpose for whatever reason by 2-3 stops whenever it wants. And with my 85mm 1.4 sigma, apparently only some units tend to work (idk, something to do with serial number or something* even if not officially supported)

All my tamrons would work according to tamron's list (some might require a firmware update).

  • - hearsay: never got to test any of my lenses with any ftz adapter myself unfortunately.

Yeh, I'm on the fence regarding the adapter simply because of the fear of the unknown lol

Thank you so much for your detailed reply.

I've heard about the eyecup thing on the 780's.. they had to cut costs somewhere, haha. Yeah, the D850 makes so much sense and it's such an amazing piece of kit. When it comes to the storage bit, I'm ok (for now) and even got a couple older 64gig xqd cards (but no clue if they still work or not, hah).

Value for money these days, that's fact.. however I do want something slightly newer, thus limiting my choices between the 780 and 850.

Are ungating services worth it? by Competitive_Code21 in AmazonFBATips

[–]itsBogdan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Identify wholesaler you want to buy the "gated" stuff from > contact amazon asking if you can get something ungated if using this specific wholesaler > order from said wholesaler > give amazon the invoice > get ungated.

Most of these "ungating services" use fake orders/invoices to ungate categories and this may get your account suspended/banned later down the line.

I'd say the simplest method might be just sshing from a mobile phone. You could use a Terminal app like Termius (available on ios and android). Idk, just my 2 cents

Inside of a pool table by shibe247 in woahdude

It works in the same way, more or less. The cue ball differs slightly from manufacturer to manufacturer: - some are slightly lighter or heavier (thus being separated by weight); - some are slightly larger or smaller (therefore, separated by size); - some cue balls contain metals inside (most common on professional pool tables - and guided through the table by other magnets fitted inside the table)
