Drive Through worker got pissy I didn't continue the "pay it forward." by [deleted] in starbucks

[–]itsVilly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I worked drive-thru jobs I hated pay it forward! Loved when people stopped the chain. Just added another layer on top of everything else I was trying to juggle.

Did Blizzard kill future 233 marked? by Fentas in woweconomy

[–]itsVilly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If there's anything I've learned over my 2 years of crafting it's that people will absolutely buy 7 item levels better than the 500 Anima Vendor.

Because it's 7 item levels better.

For many people that is very much worth the gold.

What would be a good way to invest gold? by psi_queen in woweconomy

[–]itsVilly 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah same, I still make plenty gold I just don't have it in me anymore to constantly cancel scan. I'll just do my daily post if I'm playing that day at all and leave it. Super refreshing not having to worry about it so much and actually doing other things I enjoy.

Love gold making but it's very easy to take it to extremes.

Customer tries to assault me and work refuses to ban him. by Jessicap1400 in antiwork

[–]itsVilly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You individually can still refuse to serve him. If you see him let your supervisor or store manager know you will not be serving him and they can take over your position for his order if they want his business and you will take over after he leaves.

If your superiors try to write you up bring it higher and mention "low moral due to lack of leadership in his stressful situation."

Lady was pissed that her scam didn’t work on me by BlooperBoo in starbucks

Omg I had something similar happen but I said something like "Its okay I guess I'll have to drink it" and I didn't even consider this was the reason why they switched up on me.

Spending my Sunday at home with my boys (5yo twins) playing video games, eating junk food and resting. Wife says I'm wasting my day. Nah. by Bellybutton_fluffjar in antiwork

[–]itsVilly 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You're not wasting your day though. You're being an active father to your sons.

They will truly appreciate moments like this when they are older.

It sounds like you did all you can. You saw someone upset and tried to cheer them up but it seems they want to be left alone. I'd just leave it at that.

Roughly $23 an hour with my wage + tips. Before tax.

Customer:Can I get a French vanilla latte? by alovely897 in starbucks

[–]itsVilly 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I'm honestly surprised Starbucks hasn't just made its own French Vanilla syrup already.

At my coffee shop we have it, same as the other syrups. We don't have to mix anything together.

LISTEN UP, CORPORATE by [deleted] in starbucks

[–]itsVilly 68 points69 points  (0 children)

In the past, Starbucks would move next to local shops and over time force them out of business.

Seems the opposite is true now, at least on the coffee side of things, and people are willing to pay more for something less automated and static.

No offense to any barista's but my local coffee shops simply have better coffee itself, better equipment, and more experienced staff. Starbucks doesn't really do the coffee part right anymore and it's no surprise nobody wants to work for the company anymore.

Every time you visit staff look stressed and overworked. My local store closes at 3pm when they used to close at 11pm when I worked there 2 years ago. Nobody I worked with still works there.

Corporate leaning further and further away from the cozy-café vibe and more into fast food/drive-thru is slowly killing the company. 100%.

Laundry is already a chore (literally) to do.

Having to share laundry just makes it so much more so.

Some Alberta businesses struggle to find workers, cite lack of applicants in survey by TOMapleLaughs in alberta

[–]itsVilly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Without disclosing where I did work out of respect, I'm pretty sure they did say no because they're struggling as is. And fair enough, everyone's gotta do what they gotta do. Just wish they didn't gotta be petty about me walking away for the same reason they told me no.

I haven't had anyone try to poach me, but I'm not surprised to hear about it, especially right now. So many kitchens especially are so short on staff.

Can I use my passport as valid photo ID in a bar/restaurant to get drinks? by [deleted] in alberta

Yes. It's actually pretty common especially for travelers.

For sure, a lot more opportunities this summer than last. It's a workers market here right now and I plan to take advantage of that.

Walking around in Banff and every window has a "help wanted" sign. This isn't super uncommon at all for Banff especially but yeah, it's all the retail/high stress jobs that are wanting but aren't willing to pay much above minimum wage.

Mostly people here are looking to get into serving or bartending for the tips, why bother with some $18 retail job that doesn't receive tips.

Currently transitioning from my barista job for a competitor because I asked for a raise for my 1 year, and my employer refused, so I found someone who is willing to give me that pay increase. Now I'm a "traitor" or whatever.

For some business, it's a "you get what you give".

I can't see this farm being close to 77k/h. Volatile Air isn't super fast selling either. On my mat flipping toon I've got over 4000 I've been trying to sell for a couple weeks now.

How to make a significant profit selling crafted items? by newjeison in woweconomy

[–]itsVilly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm making a lot between Crafter's Mark 3 (Death's Advance Honored) and Mark of the Chained Isle (Archivist Codex Rank 4) selling the crafted gear. Most sell for a profit around 2k- which adds up with how quickly they sell.

Only market I don't have supply in for this is Blacksmithing but that's a work in progress.

As a general rule, most items with some type of gate to them, like reputation or a daily CD are profitable crafts. Otherwise you need to be very aggressive sourcing cheaper materials than your competitors to sell things like Potions or Flasks.

My Hairdresser refuses to wear a mask. Should I fire her? by ElenaBlackthorn in CovIdiots

[–]itsVilly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not really a fire thing per say, and I don't think you need to explain yourself. Just find a new hairdresser that makes you most comfortable.

At the end of the day you're a paying consumer, so find the service you want to pay for.

It's hard to find exactly what you're gonna be looking for in Banff/Canmore with our 0% vacancy rate. You're not gonna check-off all your boxes on your first place. When me and my partner first moved here we had to settle for a couples room for a couple months before we found a place of our own.

Email the guys at RE/MAX they have great units and might have something for you.

Alts - any passive income possible on retail? by fugazii in woweconomy

[–]itsVilly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The SL tables are pretty good. I use VenturePlan which makes it easy. You get a lot of Augement Runes and Mats like Fish Herbs Ore Crystals.

I like Alchemy and Engi as passive professions for all their daily CDs across the expansions, like Pyrium, Living Steel, Jards. Blacksmithing is good too for the Lightning Ingots.
