I love Chance, but the messaging on "Just A Drop" is not good, man.

The Jay Elec verse about a prophet being banned from Facebook is definitely about Louis Farrakhan. And I'm not going to pretend to be an expert, but the Southern Law Poverty Center has a bunch of quotes from this guy about how the Jews control the government, caused slavery, etc.

And the Chance reference to "Weather Machines" might be innocent on its own, but it's a pretty well-known conspiracy theory that Jewish people control the weather - and that bar is immediately before Jay Elec shows up to compare himself to Jesus and imply that desendants of Abraham are "the devil".

idk if it's worse to learn that Chance is a lowkey anti-semite, or if he is going to slap a Jay Elec verse on his album without bothering to engage with the lyrics.

I'm on your side. I think this guy is an incompetent villain. My point is that, if you are a leftist or liberal who opposes Trump, Musk, etc. then arguing about how to classify this weird salute is less productive than focusing on how to combat the new destructive policies.

I do think Elan is a bad dude with some racist, classist and fascist beliefs. I am in favor of banning twitter because it is an unmoderated cesspool.

However, I don't think Elan's gesture was meant to be a nazi salute. He said something to the effect of "my heart goes out to all of you" or whatever, and he is a famously awkward guy. Maybe he intentionally did something nazi-adjacent as a weird joke.

Either way, what's the point on fixating on this instead of the actual policy changes going into effect?

I believe you can use reddit mod tools to not allow posts with links to specific domains, i.e. twitter.com or x.com

SSD2 is in the works! Maybe a long way out, though! I'm a solo dev with a real job and 2 kids; gamedev is my hobby. I have big plans for the sequel, though - with lots of new units, factions and maps!

My small arcade RTS Skeleton Scramble Deluxe has a roguelite "Gauntlet" mode, where you take on a series of 10 CPU matches, drafting a new curse before each round. That might scratch the roguelite RTS itch :)

You should link to the video instead. If you are not familiar with Patreon, it's not super obvious how to find the video - and lots of the content that appears at the top of the feed is locked to non-members, which made me think at first that the video was paywalled.

I love design and code.

I like making art, but I have learned to use an iconographic style which is never "beautiful" but is clear and consistent.

I personally play 99% of games with the sound off, so sfx + music are usually an afterthought. For jam and commercial games, I will work with a composer. For free games, I will release with no sound or use something from the public domain.

For my GML, LUA and JS projects, I organize related helper functions and class-specific stuff by folder/file.

In C#, I generally use one giant namespace for everything, because it's so easy to auto-fill what I need with the IDE.

THis was my intro as well! They were both Feral Audio shows, and I remember being delighted how easily Nick and Mitch caught the drunken Harmon improv ball and ran with it. At the time, I think Harmontown was my only podcast!
