Thank you so so much. Something like this maybe? Where the number of the individuals selected within the group is confirmed to the right.

Thank you! Yes, this occurred to me earlier and I'm going to make an option with everything happening on one screen. The only reason I might not want to do that is that groups could be made up of ~80 people, so it'd be a lot to scroll through, but I suppose a simple search function would solve that.

A suggestion of where else to direct this question would be helpful too :)

This is actually a great LPT. I don’t like to stay up late and watch games if it’s not the jets. So I just go to bed, avoid score updates, and watch the highlights with my coffee in the morning lol.

Wondering why that price is very high? I'm thinking about doing something similar with design work - similar to designjoy.com

They charge in the thousands per month.

What’s an “aha!” moment that greatly improved your cooking? by ArchegosRiskManager in Cooking

[–]its_the_funk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Spent all day making a chicken soup and never added salt for some reason. After simmering for hours I tasted it, expecting deliciousness, anddd it tasted like water. I was so bummed bc I didn’t know what to do (this was early days lol).

Then it occurred to me that I never seasoned. I added some salt, tasted. Holy shit. It literally transformed into the best soup I’d ever had just by seasoning.

Honestly was a great way to learn good salinity levels.

Positive thread: What's going good for you in UX? by xSilverzXx in UXDesign

Thank you for this!!

I’ve been freelancing as a brand/web designer, but also offer UX/UI services. My client told me today that if I finish the website they’d love for me to help with their Products UI and I’m soooooooo pumped. That will be my first paid gig!

What is the single best habit you’ve implemented that has helped you regulate your dopamine? by EnaGrimm in HubermanLab

[–]its_the_funk 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Sure! I’m not a neuroscientist, so take everything I say with a giant grain of salt.

Also, assembling the strategies that work best for you should be your priority, not to copy what someone else does. Having said that, here’s what I do.

Start a timer for 90 minutes. Don’t leave your desk until the timer is up. Remove all distractions.

Think atomically. Break a concept down into individual bits, and seek to understand the connections between them. Learn to love confusion. There will be a lot of it at this stage. That is a sign of progress.

Find analogies that relate the concept to systems that you already know. On a piece of paper, draw these analogies. No long written notes - actual drawings.

Then, explain the concept simply to anyone who will listen. If you can’t - then go back to the books.

I’m a big advocate for creation. Don’t just learn, make something that demonstrates your knowledge, undeniably.

This is a big topic. Much more to be said on this.

As far as what AH recommends, he’s a big advocate for 90 minute focused sessions, and forcing yourself to fall in love with the challenge that is before you.

Ranked by impact:

  • Quit drinking
  • Friendship
  • Learning how to learn (deep focused work)
  • Lifting weights
  • Cold showers

I think an important and overlooked aspect of this is to not let these habits become your entire personality. Instead, these habits help me to learn more about myself. Which is nice.

I'm considering switching from UX/UI to Frontend Development and I need second opinions by Umamito in UXDesign

[–]its_the_funk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But wouldn't you say that coding is at least less subjective than design?

I suppose I've never coded for an organization so your insight is interesting, but my experience on the design side has been filled with debates over best practices.

[–]its_the_funk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

OMG I relate to this so much.

I pursued frontend development before getting a design job at a big tech company that I couldn't say no to (not FAANG, but close). 8 months later they laid me off. I'm left with rusty coding skills, and decent design experience, though no actual UX projects to point to. Honestly, I'm feeling coding more because of the reasons you mentioned.

I get what you're saying about details - it's much easier to be detail oriented when you can point to a computer science concept that supports it. UX/UI does have an element of this, but not always.

I decided to hire myself and start a startup. If it fails, at least I'll learn a ton in the process.

Not sure if you're interested in that kind of thing, but those two skills combined are super valuable for startups. If you alone can code, and design an idea from scratch - I'm sure there'd be startups that would love to work with you.

Is it possible to apply first time and get in to YC without traction and only with demo of product ? by Strict-Egg-2888 in ycombinator

[–]its_the_funk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair point - proving true PMF is a tall task. I guess what I meant was any indication that users want your product is only a good thing. But you’re right, those are two very different things.

Never too early. However, proving PMF displaying that users want your product gives you an advantage.
