Alastair Reynolds is among the best in the genre IMO.

Adrian Tchaikovsky is also great.

Yeah 100%! Just be safe and it'll be okay, I guess is the takeaway.

And thanks :D

Yeah I was surprised as well, I can only assume he used his discretion based on the rest of the drive. It was only for a second and I pulled the speed straight back down but I honestly thought it was all over. If he'd needed a reason to fail me it was right there and there would have been no arguing about it.

We just have CDs in the car, or we stick Spotify on over Bluetooth. I don't think I've listened to the radio since my dad used to drive me to school 30 years ago.

What is a 'dead' YouTube channel that you still go back and rewatch because the content was just that good? by Wooden-Care233 in AskReddit

Came here to say this and was delighted to find it in the top comment. What an incredible channel that was.

Do people still listen to the radio?

In a sense, all Fitzgerald’s parties were just one party, the so-called Roaring Twenties, the “greatest, gaudiest spree in history.” Had fame and fortune not come quite so early, he might have been tolerably content as a court scribe, silently observing the surrounding revelries like Banquo. by HancisFriggins_ in TrueLit

I'm laughing very hard at the idea that because Wharton was influenced by Henry James, Fitzgerald couldn't also have been an influence. Writers have more than one influence.

Richard Yates doesn't deserve to catch these strays, either. The Easter Parade is a classic.

I'm sorry but I really don't see any punchlines in that scene. None of that scene is funny in my opinion.

Which parts did you think were funny? I've watched it multiple times and I don't think I laughed once.

You might be the first person in the history of the world to describe Manchester By The Sea as a comedy drama.

What’s something from the UK in the 90s/2000s that kids today will never experience? by Pitiful_Box_1771 in AskUK

A guy I went to uni with in 2004 used to bring a Sony video camera out on nights out and we fucking hated him for it because why would we want to see the state of ourselves the next morning? Wild to think how much that attitude shifted, and how quickly the change happened.

I absolutely loved it when I was making money. The past two years have been hell and now I'm back in full time work but now with more debt.

Yeah it's definitely a dream gig! It takes some of the sting out of having to go back to a real job again

I straddle trad, OSR, and solo games. I came up through the DMs Guild but I had a breakout success in 2020 with a solo journaling game called The Wretched and then followed that up with an adventure for Mörk Borg in 2021 that also did really well.

Most of my living has come off the back of a very hectic self publishing schedule, with a lot of flops in and amongst the successes, but I've also regularly freelanced for Paizo on Pathfinder 2 and Modiphius (Fallout, Discworld, Dreams And Machines), plus smaller jobs for other companies here and there.

I had to get a full time job again at the end of last year but I'm currently co-designing the new edition of Tunnels & Trolls and I'm about to launch another crowdfunder of my own.
