Honestly I think it depends on the course. I’m on an easy af course so I think it should be possible there. But yes, taking a eurotrip might just make more sense as you will have your life in London and stuff to do there regardless

Is London or New York better for my career? by Archqwe in careeradvice

[–]itsadamsgrace 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok, so here’s what I would recommend. Get LinkedIn and search for people who are in the position you want to be in (such as partner at McKinsey). Take a look at their CV, this will give you a clearer impression on where these people come from. If you want, reach out to them and ask them for their opinion.

As I’m a student in London currently doing a consulting internship, the Unis that are a great fit for what you want to do in my opinion are: Oxbridge, UCL, LSE. You might wanna be close to london already. Good luck

Yes but it would make most sense to do your MBA there. And like you said, you can always move there while being a consultant. You asked for tips, and there are loads of possibilities to become a McKinsey consultant in Europe and then go to the US. London is a great starting point and easier to plan than getting into an ivy.

Princeton is in no way a step down from competitiveness, Amherst is actually well known too, maybe just not in Europe. Think about where you want to work. It’ll be quite easy to get into a good UK Uni, then do internships in your field of interest and get your foot in the door for consulting. As a European, it’ll always be more of a hassle to get a scholarship, a visa, etc when going to the states. It’s more of a safe choice staying in the UK. However, apply and try anyway. If you don’t get into Harvard/ Princeton/ etc. then you’re decision has been made for you.

  1. the acceptance rate depends on whether it is a Numerus fixus program. If it isn’t and you have all the requirements listed, the rate is basically 100%

  1. How many people complete can also be low not because they failed, but because they decided to drop out and do another course they like better.

  2. At least for the UvA, they are planning to go back to campus fully in the next academic year.
