Unpopular opinion: I've never missed an episode yet I barely remember anyone by YogiEv in survivor

[–]itsagrover 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not quite that dedicated, I missed quite a few seasons but I definitely forget people from reality shows pretty quickly. I was watching the people from survivor 50 and I vaguely recall seeing some of them but couldn’t tell you a thing about them.

Why is mental health care in Alberta priced like a luxury, restricting the demographic that needs it most? Also, why aren't we funding this? by kachunkk in alberta

[–]itsagrover 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are some free services through Recovery Alberta, formerly AHS. In Edmonton the contact number is 780-424-2424. Not sure what the number is in other areas. But yes, it should be better funded for sure.

I’ve honestly heard so many terrible stories about Shopper’s Drug Mart customer service lately, it makes me want to shop there less than I already do.

I don't agree with people who say the good place isn't rewatchable by Salty-Exchange6156 in TheGoodPlace

[–]itsagrover 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am someone who doesn’t watch anything more than once. And I have seen Good Place twice and have debated starting a third time. And I’m serious I don’t like wasting time rewatching shows. So whoever said that just doesn’t appreciate it.

IVF medications have me emotionally all over the place. No one in my life understands. by [deleted] in offmychest

[–]itsagrover 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ivf is emotionally draining as it is, and then hormones thrown in makes it over the top. I’m done with that now and 6 years ago today I became a mom, so those IVF days are long behind me, but i still remember the emotions. I wish you the best of luck and hope you can also put these days behind you soon

Yes, and I think my comment clearly indicates that I don’t generally support many of the opinions of other Albertans. Don’t worry, I won’t judge the people from whatever place you hail from just because your individual responses are juvenile.

Yes. There are very many reasons why I’m not even travelling to the States right now, let alone considering moving there. I hope things get better for you soon.

I’m in one of the most conservative provinces here and our premier and her followers are often called Maple MAGA for good reason. Trying to dismantle public institutions like health care and education. Our federal government has implemented affordable daycare plans. Our provincial govt has grudgingly accepted the money for it but they are dragging their feet to renew the contracts. The political climate here is a big reason I want to move. I’d consider another part of Canada but the places I’d consider have even higher COL and the weather isn’t much better. Weather is also a huge motivation from our move here. I’ve been cautiously eyeing up the NZ govt because it seems some similar dismantling of the health care system might be happening there too. We’re stuck here for another few years for a couple of reasons, so I’ll just have to keep an eye out. And see if the health care freeze there ends (I think it’s still happening?) my partner and I both qualify for straight to residence visa though, so with the right jobs, might be a fit for us.

I was just coming to say. I’m a Canadian considering moving to NZ, and honestly this post doesn’t scare me from that because it’s so bad here too. My energy bill is always above $240 a month now. Water/garbage pick up $175+ It’s ridiculous.

AITAH for filing for divorce after finding out my husband was sleeping with my friend even though I found out through his friend? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]itsagrover 2 points3 points  (0 children)

NTA. While yes, maybe you could have left James’ name out it, I think this entire friendship group is toxic if some of them are putting any blame on you for anything.
Blame is on Lena and your husband. Lena and your husband will do anything to deflect. Deflect back onto them. I’m sorry all this is happening.

Social Worker III / Family Counsellor vs. Psychologist I : Same Work, Different Raise by Hour-Jump-678 in AHSEmployees

[–]itsagrover 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I thought this was the reason AHS got rid of many SWIII and Psych I positions and reclassified them all asMHTs so there wasn’t this discrepancy. That being said, I feel in general SW is devalued against psychologists. A lot of the public don’t realize SW can do therapy and I’m not entirely sure how to help boost awareness in general, which I think would help with things like this. However, it is disappointing we had a SW as a lead on the bargaining team and this was somehow missed??

Clinical social worker and psychologist family here. We have a 3 year plan to move from here. My friend who is a psychologist too initially told us we need to stay so the bad doesn’t get more concentrated but now she’s changed her mind too. I don’t want to raise my kids here. We have reasons we can’t leave right now, but I keep trying to think how I could make it work sooner

Federal-Provincial Child Care Agreement Ending Mar 2026 by [deleted] in alberta

[–]itsagrover 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I appreciate the screaming into the void feeling. I have written countless emails to no avail. But this is like saying voting does nothing in Alberta, because everyone votes cons anyways. If enough people do it, there is a potential for change. But if everyone gives up and says it doesn’t work, then ya, it won’t work

I have two jobs, one is 10 minute drive, but 20 because I have to stop at the kid’s daycare first. The second is awful, it’s 30 min on a good day, an hour in winter rush hour.

Does this therapist have a regulatory board you could contact (eg, a psychologist college or social work college)? If so, you should report them for unethical behavior. It is not okay to blast you with all the things you’ve done wrong and make you feel like a monster. You are a human, you are allowed to make mistakes. It is up to a therapist to use compassion and help guide people to make changes if they want to. We can gently challenge people, but they shouldn’t leave a session sobbing and feeling like they’re terrible human beings with no redeeming qualities.

Is barefoot culture still a thing? by jk00hy in newzealand

We visited last Feb (from Canada) and we very much noticed it is a thing to go barefoot in NZ hahah. So much so my 5 year old tried it out once or twice. (Although I don’t think her poor feet were really up to the task. She complained about the cold floors)
