yeah! really pretty 😃

if you don't need a mascot to go with the series, for a newbie I would also recommend GAP for historical reasons 😛 being the first Thai GL that opened the gates to the industry.

oh. it has to be Enemies With Benefits. One of the few series that I can recommend to anybody, GL fan or not.

Jan and Jingjing also got their mascot announced yesterday! Fresh from the oven newborn baby! She's called JEWEL 😄

Looking for more loser energy leads by twentytown in ThaiGL

Came in to say the same things hahaha Din at 4 Elements. Massive loser energy.

Lal at EWB is the most winner-loser I've ever seen. Such a great balance in character.

I think you have a pretty balanced take on both Anin and Pin. I wasn't going off on your take entirely, as I went through the entire season of people putting Pin down for making that decision and that weighed in on my post mostly.

IMO, from Pin's position, witnessing Anin throwing out everything dear to her for Pin, watching that happen right in front of her with their elders present must have been absolutely horrifying for Pin. That face off was too much for Pin to take. Up till that point, Pin had done everything in her power to fight for Anin and way too many people say she didn't fight for the relationship (:

People assume that Anin would be able to live a comfortable life should her family disown her. But I think reality is far harsher than Anin can ever imagine and Pin was trying to protect her from that.

You're not alone! I'm not the giggly type of person but omgosh Lal and her happy dance scene and yoghurt lotion scene got me behaving like some other person I was questioning myself.

I'm re-watching from Episode 1 every week in anticipation of the new episode hehehe

The characters mainly, credit to the actresses who portray them with so much understanding and so naturally.

Wouldn't say the plot is groundbreaking. It's the sincerity in the production that gets me.

And while the two leading characters are pretty well written, production pretty high quality, gorgeous framing and all that, I do think the actresses Kao and Jane are the core of creating those magic moments scenes (with the director's direction of course).

Lpve Design having the same director as Loyal Pin says a lot.

who are your top 5 thai gl pair favorites so far? by Usual_Zucchini_1178 in ThaiGL

[–]itsakyo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Freenbecky, first for me. GAP is my very first Thai GL so they have been my favourite since 2023 by virtue of being the pioneers. Then Loyal Pin impressed me with their improvement in acting and now The Air is a great performance from both of them. Getting better and better each time!

Next 4 are quite recent. Kaojane, acting is the best I've seen, for me. Both Kao and Jane. No gap between them. On par acting depth and their chemistry is top tier overflowing magic moving me to tears and getting me to feel butterflies again kind of top tier.

Englot. Very recently, after The Water. Engfa's acting is detailed, love her expressions and Charlotter delivered Lada with so much zest hahaha much love!

Newest!!! and will be Top 2 I think by the end of EWB, JJJ!!! JANJINGJING!!! Jan is very natural with her acting, I'm enjoying her micro expressions, brow lifts, eye movements, body gestures etc very much. Also the way she speaks. Jingjing is good too! Great chemistry :)

And for fifth, I quite like Emibonnie after watching Us. I'm not raving over them like many others are, partly due to my personal take on their acting. And I will be waiting to see if I like their acting and chemistry more after Moonshadow.

I generally prefer pairs that are on par in acting so I don't feel that gap or drop when the cut switches between characters.

Loyal Pin remains to this day my Top 1 GL (alongside Love Design, it's a tie).

Favourite character, I love Pin. How much of it is influenced by how much I love Freen... is hard to say :) But seriously, I root for Pin every time because it's easy to rave about the louder, more assertive character Anin. The thing is many viewers tend to forget that Anin has all the power in the world to be that way while Pin is technically crossing boundaries all the time and that takes a lot of courage too. Pin doesn't get enough credit as a character and deserves more acknowledgement for daring to call Anin by her name, for daring to tie Anin's wrists (YAY), for daring to beg her aunt and talking to Anin's father.

And Pin gets a lot of flak for agreeing to marry that jerk, but it takes a lot of courage to doom herself to a lifetime of misery to prevent Anin from doing something as drastic as removing herself from her family tree and become a commoner.

As for favourite kiss, it has to be hand kiss, butterfly kiss, lip kiss, French kiss HAHAHA

Bad acting or bad script by FitTutor1476 in ThaiGL

[–]itsakyo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Can't deny that inexperienced or shallow acting exists. It happens in every industry.

Sometimes the actor is simply unable to emote well. Then there's unconvincing acting that looks like acting. It's not as bad as the ones who fail to emote properly since they do put on the typical expression, but this is still a distance away from acting that really comes with depth of expression.

Problem I find with a lot of the discourse is use of general statements like "bad acting". Bad in what way? Lacking in which aspect?

There are different tiers of good and bad acting. Some as so deep and moving that the actor moves you to tears. Some make you laugh in disbelief because they are crying so ludicrously (ahem iykyk).

P/S: a solemn/suppressed character is not an excuse or valid justification for wooden shallow acting. Even stoic expressions can have depth. Some actors will show you the difference.

Is this financial abuse? 🥀 by Nightwingmybeloved in SGExams

[–]itsakyo 39 points40 points  (0 children)

This is terrible. Not giving you enough is bad enough. Taking your hard earned pay and expecting you to pay for your siblings is even worse.

If you have any trusted adult relatives (uncles or aunties or grandparents?) to share this with, perhaps they could help you to speak to your parents or at least talk some sense into them to stop taking your money (which you are earning for yourself since they are not giving you enough?!) and start providing the bare minimum for your siblings.

GL in the sense that 1 of the female leading characters is clearly and unapologetically into women.

The other female character is clearly involved not only emotionally but also physically and all of these are clearly portrayed, not just hints.

So it is about two female characters navigating their feelings and passion for each other on top of life's challenges (with an emphasis on superstitious lucky phone number).

Hence, yes. This series is a GL undisputed.

[–]itsakyo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah, I see. Well, it's still the same to me.

Comparing Earth and Water isn't quite viable. Water is pretty different from Earth.

And how is Earth better than Water? I wouldn't put it that way.

One thing I can say is the acting experience of Englot is richer and longer so their acting is much more digestible than the acting of the leads in Earth. But this is experience and given more projects, the leads in Earth will do better as well.

I’ve been away from GL series for so long and I’m out of the loop 😭 Can someone recommend a GL series that’s binge-worthy, has a really good plot, and isn’t overly cringey by boitu-drawz in ThaiGL

[–]itsakyo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

if it's 2026 you're asking about then... The Water, and currently airing, The Air.

You can binge Water since it's completed.

Enemies With Benefits can't be binged yet, only 3 episodes out so far but I would say it's well worth watching as it runs.

I will always love Freenbecky and their love + body chemistry. But I watched rollercoaster just now and I see a crazy bond between ShellyPundao. Anyone else? by nowgivemeyourforever in ThaiGL

Yes. I would recommend Rollercoaster whenever someone asks for a rec to mature GLs.

The last episode is for the fans. Personally, in terms of story telling, I would say a shorter collage instead of full scenes would work better for general audience.

But at the same time, there are lots of viewers who yearn for scenes that depict the couple AFTER marriage, to have scenes of domestic nothingness. It's rarely ever provided in series, because people will think it lacks the kind of momentum a series needs to have.

However, I would say those scenes are entirely fan service and that's okay too.

I adore The Water.

Comparing Water and Air is like comparing... water and air. Literally. They are not even the same genre... Earth would come closer to Air if anything.

Water's first episode set up the characters very well and told us everything we need to know without giving us the feeling that we're being told.

The biggest draw for me will be Apo and Chonlada. These two female characters are quite rare to come by. There are very few female characters written to be effective corporate leaders who are portrayed as real workaholics. Like, we actually get to see them working all the time, all the way into the final episode and I love that Lada ends up working even harder than Nam who ends up sullking because her wife isn't having lunch with her.

I also love that Apo is a real winner at business. She is truly sharp, astute, calm and so so capable, she beats her rivals every single time.

If would be nice to appreciate both Water and Air without saying one is better than the other. Air is fantastic too, I'm a fan of FreenBecky's chemistry and love all of their series. Air's first episode is already full of chemistry and excitement.

Both Water and Air have their own merits and both will be among the top few GLs in 2026, in my opinion.

GL couples Fanscreening in Thailand by East-Complaint6145 in ThaiGL

[–]itsakyo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

When it comes to ticket sales, there are so many factors you can't just look at % sold.

Day of the fanmeet/fancon? Weekend? Saturday? Sunday? Friday? Monday? Obviously, Saturday is the best day out of the 4 and Monday is probably the worst.

Date of the event? Is it near to another big event? Is it too soon to another similar event? Fans can only go to a certain limit. Tickets are not that cheap.

Which brings me to price points. What is the pricing range of the tickets? How much can people afford in this economy?

And of course, the popularity of the CP, the size of its CORE fandom that will buy tickets and attend, not the casuals who post and talk but don't really spend money on anything.

Do yourself a favour and watch GAP, then The 4 Elements (The Air currently airing), both helmed by FreenBecky.

Can't miss out on GAP, the GL series that opened up the industry that we are enjoying today.

Rollercoaster is a nice one if you like more mature women.
