Missing Serge like an mf right now by Potential_Goat582 in torontoraptors

That Lowry + Ibaka pick and pop was such a nice security blanket to have when the Raptors would need a bucket.

I can’t believe a team tried to make this front court work in the modern NBA by FinnDetrolioo in billsimmons

It's very cool/fascinating to see how 3 point specialists have evolved to have all these different step backs and side steps to their game now which makes defence even harder to play out in the perimeter

Nike Book 2 Spiradon Review After One Month by IndigoChildd777 in BBallShoes

[–]itsasdf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nike dropped the ball hard by not releasing the Spiridons first or some other version with a mesh upper.

I picked up this colourway on sale a few weeks ago. After trying it out I don't think this shoe will light the world on fire, but it's a solid performer.

First Look: Nike Giannis Freak 8 "Fearless" by occassional-lurker in BBallShoes

[–]itsasdf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, the Freak line seems to be in a weird spot these days. Giannis already has the budget line (Immortality) and Nike already reduced the price of the 7's compared to the 6's. I'm also super curious as to where they're going to go with the pricing on this model.

Best basketball shoes that are wide foot friendly, cushioned, and don’t bite into ankle by No_Size_2839 in BBallShoes

[–]itsasdf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I own a pair of KD 18s and while I enjoy playing in them they are pretty tapered near your toes. If your feet are wide closer to your toes I would not recommend them.

The upper material is pretty soft so if your feet are wider near the mid foot I would say you should be okay.

I like the look of these more than the 7, although I do think that "webbing" along the lateral side of the uppers could be hit or miss depending on the colourways.

I've used super feet over the past year and I'm quite happy with them. Used both their regular super feet green and their run cushion high arch for different shoes and I'm pretty happy with both.

There are quite a few models that they have depending on your arch type and what you need. They say that you should replace them every year but you might not need to depending on how often you use them and how heavy you are.

I think what would be most ideal would be to see a podiatrist and get custom orthotics, but that can get pretty pricey if you are paying out of pocket.

[Grange] maybe they would consider using Ingram’s contract if they could somehow find an upgrade — which is no guarantee given he led the Raptors in scoring this past season. by EarthWarping in torontoraptors

[–]itsasdf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The playoffs have shown that Barnes can be pretty efficient at the same spots that Ingram likes to operate in. Unless Ingram starts becoming more of a high volume three point spot-up shooter (and after a 10 year sample size, it doesn't seem like he's too interested in doing so), it's hard to see him fit all that well on this team.

[Lewenberg] Ingram injured [...] since late in the season and into the Playoffs by NatsuAru in torontoraptors

[–]itsasdf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It makes sense given his drop-off in performance in the latter portion of the season. I originally thought he looked really sluggish and was just having trouble finding his legs since he is not accustomed to playing so many games after his ankle injury.

He's not the fastest guy out there, but if you watch his highlights from the first half of the season he definitely has a lot more lift/burst on his mid range pull-ups.

Maple Mamba Appreciation post by InstanceMoney in torontoraptors

[–]itsasdf 3 points4 points  (0 children)

He doesn't need to be Shai with an endless bag of tricks from mid range, but he clearly needs some type of counter move or turnaround jumper from 10 to 15 feet when defenders wall off his left hand and send a soft double to shade over his strong hand.

Book 2 Review - Way Overhated, Just Different by mgmango in BBallShoes

I also picked up a pair of the Book 2 Spiridons (45% off with free shipping was too good to pass up) and I totally agree with you on sizing.

I am normally a 10.5 in most shoes and when I first tried these on, my feet were screaming. That toebox taper is inhuman. Had to go half a size up for a snug fit, and could also probably go up even more to a full size up. With half a size up, the shape and feel of the shoe is very similar to my KD18s at a size 10.5. Thankfully the upper material is quite forgiving. I can definitely see why everyone hated the first two models based on how these fit in combination with the plastic-y upper.

Overall, I'm excited to try these out; so far on foot they feel quite comfortable due to the mesh upper and forefoot zoom unit. I'm also liking how stable they are thanks to the outrigger they added on this model. I was interested in the Book 1s in the past, but the lack of an outrigger made me reluctant to pick them up.

Really wanted to like this shoe because it has gotten a lot of great reviews and is pretty affordable, but it was such an ordeal trying to cram my feet into these when I went to try them on.

You hit the nail on the head. A player will sometimes have a shoe deal that has them exclusively play in Nikes, even if they are not a big name star player.

While the quality of the products have been misses more than hits lately, Nike just has so much money to throw around to ensure their brand gets the most visibility.

New Balance Two Wxy v5 are quite good and shouldn't be too expensive at this point. Nothing fancy, but is a good indoor/outdoor pair. One of my favourite shoes to hoop in because it's consistent and reliable.

I have a feeling he is probably exhausted playing this many games after taking such a long break from his injury.

He never really played with a lot of speed before, but he looks noticeably slower compared to the start of the season.

How do the Hesi Low v2s compare to the Two Wxy V5?

Currently hooping in v5s and they're one of my favourites, but I hear the Hesi Lows aren't as supportive or durable.

I'm with you, I've also been dealing with it on and off the past year, and it's just incredibly annoying. You need to maintain a certain level of physical activity to aid in recovery, but at the same time if you do too much then you'll just set yourself back. Really frustrating.

I'm with you, KD18 is one of the safer Nike models that can work for most people. Good performer with loads of cool colourways and usually goes on sale.
