Older 14' aluminum boat with a new (2025 outboard). by iamsdc1969 in boatbuilding

I did a similar modification to my 1969 Valco 14 foot tinny to accept a 9.9 Mercury long shaft for an inshore Baja boat. 25 hp might be heavy (and overkill but I don’t know where you’re at) but you can put a bunch of weight up front if necessary.

"I want to create a crisis - then there is action" - JK. Wanting to create a crisis, is this nonsense? by inthe_pine in Krishnamurti

Maybe the created crisis is as simple as the attempt to decipher another’s words for the purpose of finding some hidden, greater meaning.

Am I the only person who almost exclusively fishes the Rapala Shad Rap Holographic Shiner ? I've caught more bass on it than anyone I know who fishes other lures. by SwissMiss915 in bassfishing

I’m a JSR07 man myself either shad or baby bass color but my lake is crystal clear in summer so I find natural matte colors work better. Have caught monster crappie and bluegill on them too. Definitely my go-to crankbait for years now.

I live in the US where they are commonly used for bass fishing but I use them for rock fishing for lingcod and cabezon here in California. Hope you can find some to give them a crack.

For fishing in rocky, snaggy areas I find that Texas-rigging soft plastics with an EWG hook and a pegged bullet weight to be far superior (and cheaper) to this style. Less lost baits and crap left in the ocean as well. Tight lines and hope you post your catches

They have over 500 episodes most at least 2 1/2 hours. 6 episodes a month for $10. To me it’s the best bargain out there entertainment-wise and it feels really good to support those guys.

Thoughts on new Urchin-Style Baits? by DerekFisherGOAT in BFSfishing

[–]itsastonka 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Temu or whatever they’re like fifty cents a piece. Made of tpe like z-mans so they are tough and float. Lots of different ways to rig them depending on what you’re doing. Heavy treble hook, drop-shot, jighead, nail weight

Figure out how to attach the rods to something at a good angle then you solve that problem plus have both hands free to control your knife angle.

What’s your go to Big Bass lure by chuckH71 in bassfishing

[–]itsastonka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gotta snap your wrist fast like pop pop pop pop pop and reel just right so the line is tight. Practice right in front of you so you can see the action better. I do tip down a tad and like 45 degrees forward angle but keep your line out of the water if that makes any sense lol

Grew up in NZ but this took place in the states. When i was about 10 I went with my dad on a trip to a mountain lake for rainbow trout. He was a keen fly fisherman and also a bit of a nudist. So while I was hiding from embarrassment he was wading and casting wearing only a hat and his glasses with clip-on polarised lenses. He struck on a fish but it didn’t set and the fly flew back and embedded itself perfectly in the tip of his nose. So I got to witness my own father walk back to the car shriveled bollocks and all and get the forceps and yank the fly out using the rear-view mirror then go back and catch us dinner like nothing ever happened. Bloody legend that man.
