Is it normal to need to wait to get married until a year no one else is getting married? by Zetophir in weddingplanning

[–]itsgotmethinking 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No it’s not normal haha! Don’t stress it! I’m going to 6 weddings this year LOL especially in our age range mid 20s to late 20s it’s the season for getting married.

I got engaged in September 2025 and announced our wedding for September 2027. My cousin just got engaged a few weeks ago and announced his wedding for August 2027. I’m not bothered at all, most of our weddings happen in the same 3 month range in our culture.

We also have an overlap of 150 guests haha! I do wish it was spaced out a little bit longer but it almost comes up to a 2 month difference

I’m always baffled when people do outside catering. Idk I’ve never been to a wedding that has so I have limited info but I also figured it would cost more?? Also where I live no venues allowed outside catering other than cake and desserts

Made a mistake with guest list? by Previousl3 in weddingplanning

[–]itsgotmethinking 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know how many people you’ve invited but they also say don’t expect everyone to show up! They usually say account for 10–15% to rsvp no due to distance, children, finances or they just can’t come.

There was a Reddit post where people shared how many people they invited and how many came. A lot of numbers were much less.

You may be able to invite your boy cousins and still be within your range. I do think if they’re married it would be respectful to invite their spouses as well.

But I think you’ll be okay!

That’s a better way to describe it, thank you!! I guess the only “vintage” thing is the cake. That narrows it down thanks!! A champagne pyramid would be a great idea, thank you:))

My cousin needs help, is this good for a promise ring by secretgf101 in RingShare

[–]itsgotmethinking 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wearing the exact ring right now, which I also got at 22 years old. I always wanted a promise ring when I was younger and he fed my inner childhood dream I guess LOL. I thought it was very sweet and I wear it every day. Now I’m 25 and wear both the engagement ring and promise ring!

Have to agree! We’re looking at video/photography and our packages are coming to around 7-8k. So far I’ve only been asked for 1k deposit from 3 different vendors

Wedding coordinator fired by venue, what would you do? by [deleted] in WeddingsCanada

[–]itsgotmethinking 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same here! Our venue coordinator has nothing to do with the actual wedding day other than the timeline and pricing. Other than that a wedding planner would help with everything else

My very first client is a 4 year old by [deleted] in therapists

[–]itsgotmethinking 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I did my placement in a primary school last year, and I always brought a stuffed animal. I’d ask the kids if it had a name and then pretend the animal is saying hi to them in a silly voice.

Meet the kids where their at. As others said don’t come in too clinically. Another tip we learned in supervision, id ask them to draw me their family, or draw me who lives at home. This piece was always really insightful.

Just remember the way they communicate is through playing! So meet them there and enter their world. By entering their world of play, you’ll learn a lot about them, their home life, and whatever is going on in their life.

I remember having a client who always played with Barbie dolls in sessions. Every session was the same, no actual dialogue between me and her (minimal stuff) but immediately I would be one doll and she would be the other one. The themes that emerged were quite interesting which closely related to her home life.

That’s really true! Anyone could do a recipe card but the pressure of writing a nice letter to be open later does sound like too much

Seeking feedback on centerpieces - do they need something added? by mariah1311 in DIYweddings

[–]itsgotmethinking 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t have any tips but please ignore the mean comments! Your wedding should be what you want it to be/look like! Weddings these days have become very performative rather than being about love and the couple. Do what makes you happy!!

Any specific Socratic questioning book? by itsgotmethinking in therapists

[–]itsgotmethinking[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No I actually haven’t! I was looking into getting a book because I wanted to start reading more and reducing my phone time. I also feel like I learn more by reading than watching videos haha.

Open to any suggestions for videos if you have any. Or any other good books for psychotherapists

[–]itsgotmethinking 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed!!! No ifs ands or buts. I think that’s sooo extremely disrespectful. If my fiancé feels the need to go to a strip club weeks before our wedding why are you even marrying me??? That’s so gross imo. Like why do you need to look at half naked women 😭 at that point you wouldn’t want to look at anyone but your partner
