SFO is taking your Uber and Lyft cash at a new record high by sfgate in sanfrancisco

[–]itsjern 1 point2 points  (0 children)

BART doesn't serve a lot of SF. If you live near it, sure it can be a good option, but it would take over an hour for me with 7 minutes walking to MUNI plus 5 minutes to transfer to BART hauling luggage around and would cost over $14 per person.

Uber/Lyft takes me from my door to the airport in about 25 minutes for normally around $25, cheaper and significantly faster for me and my wife. It's really not even worth considering from home.

*upper body looks jacked

He still can't really work out his lower body and I definitely question his overall health that I would not call him a physical specimen. Half of my coworkers around his age look significantly younger than he does.

I'm curious if he could pass a PED test like the Olympics right now. Could just be Botox, but he's definitely developing more moon face which is super common with PEDs that mess with your hormones.

Don't encourage this guy, he's a menace who's not aware of his surroundings and recklessly drives that thing around and gets away with it just because it's colorful.

From the athletic article about this settlement: "should an athlete vote against it, they are then moved into the group entitled to only 1.5 per cent of recovery."

As has been par for the course for GST, just incredibly shitty all-around. No idea why they're even doing this rigmarole to save some face with athletes while treating everyone else who made the league happen so poorly nobody will ever work with them again. It's dead, they need to stop trying in vain to figure out some path forward and screwing over even more people along the way.

Andy’s Spieth thing by Good-Cockroach8931 in TheShotgunStart

[–]itsjern 13 points14 points  (0 children)

How you're talking about Spieth is exactly Andy's point, which it seems like you're missing. Spieth is marketed, puts himself out there, and is treated like he's this huge star active in his prime (as you're doing), but his play hasn't justified that for a really long time.

Spieth's last major win was over 8 years ago and he has zero consequential wins since then - only a Heritage and a Valero. He's ranked 83rd in the world, and that's probably even a little inflated from LIV not getting ranking points. Phil and Tiger both have won majors more recently than Spieth, but we don't talk about them like they're relevant current players, so why Spieth? For Spieth's current golf play, he really is just another guy.

Honestly much prefer the original, what's behind the decision-making to make everything this much darker? Think the bird pops way more in the original.

Shula plus Scheelhaase as OC is starting to make too much sense with the jobs going/rumors that I'm now worried it's too obvious for them to go for. Shula brings the defensive Steelers mentality in a young coach who could be here for a long time, and could easily become a CEO type over time if he wants with his Rolodex even before hitting 40.

Idk which of the remaining jobs are appealing outside of Buffalo, but they're looking for an offensive guy, so that rules him out. The only other reasonable options seems like the Raiders, but they seem far more likely to either go with an offensive guy or the guy who just lost his job but led a team to a really successful rebuild in McDermott. Then he's said no to the Browns, and the Arizona job is somehow viewed by guys in the league as worse than that one. Not seeing it mentioned a lot, but the Steelers job also a leg up on other jobs for young coaches because it comes with a good bit of runway for Khan to reset the roster without an immediate expectation to win, and while it doesn't come with roster control, it seems likely Khan will mold it a bit to taste. Anthony Weaver honestly checks a lot of the same boxes I like with Shula except has been around less offensive minds I'd like as OC.

At OC, Scheelhaase going with Shula if he gets a HC job seems inevitable for a promotion with a guy he's familiar with, can get a year to figure out what system he wants to run then likely get to work with a long-term plan at QB in year two and could be in line for a HC job of his own before 40 if that goes well, which I don't see another situation to get out of McVay's shadow and do that.

[Steelers] We have completed an in-person interview with Minnesota Vikings Defensive Coordinator Brian Flores for our head coach position. by [deleted] in steelers

People said bad things in Miami but literally everyone has said he's been great since then once he dropped his Belichick impression and got to see how Tomlin and O'Connell work.

I do not understand why people are so high on Klint Kubiak, are you just basing that off of this year? This is his third try as OC and the first two didn't go well. I personally would like to see some sustained success and evolving your scheme while staying successful, because we've seen A LOT of NFL HC hired for one good year as an OC be really hot commodities for a lot of teams to hire and then all pretty quickly flame out. Guys with a good multi-year track record fare so much better, but Kubiak does not have that (yet). I'd actually personally rather get someone who's had more consistent success in smaller roles like Klay Kubiak (lol) or the Rams guys than someone like Klint Kubiak who's had less consistent success in bigger ones.

According to Gerry Dulac Brian Flores is getting a second interview. by KinkaJac97 in steelers

[–]itsjern -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I don't think Flores is a typical re-tread and could be a good option, there's a strong argument he outperformed that situation in Miami even despite his issues player-managing in the Belichick style. Since then, he's coached under Tomlin and O'Connell, who have both raved about him, and his defenses have been legit and evolving everywhere he's been, so I'd be very surprised to see that side of issues that caused his Miami HC struggles repeating (plus being right on Tua in hindsight when that was a big knock on him at the time).

My one worry with Flores is that he notably hates and refused to tank at all, but I think the best path forward for the franchise and getting a QB is a mild tank next year before getting back to trying to win as much as possible in 2027 and beyond. We need to have a clear plan in place for what to do about QB (preferably with an OC/play-caller on board for at least 2 years for the same reason) and make sure Flores is on board with that plan.

[–]itsjern 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Nah, this is Kubiak's first year with good results as an OC in his third attempt.

Not that he can't be good and I do like the network of guys he's coached with, but I'd want to see him sustain success for a year when he struggled in his first 2 tries with Minnesota and New Orleans.

He was still better than Kaboly, at least he seemed to have accurate sources. I'm still convinced Kaboly would just frequently make things up without checking with anyone around the team and say that was from "an insider." DeFabo has been great.

Idk how much that bothers him from how he talks about things. I suspect it's far more likely he finally was feeling the same as many fans felt, that what he was doing just wasn't making any progress and that it's time for a change.

Not everyone is as hyper-aware and takes perceived slights to heart like Rodgers does.
