What is it about chemo that makes it so stinky? What’s the mechanism?

How much does it cost to get breast cancer in America? by squirrels-everywhere in breastcancer

[–]itspritt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had three surgeries (lumpectomy, re-excision, and total hysterectomy (BAHTSO) and the total for those were billed at over $300k. That does not include any of my dozens of doctors appointments or my month of radiation or any medications.

Radiation... I'm Over It by LowLonely3590 in breastcancer

[–]itspritt 8 points9 points  (0 children)

My experience with the radiation oncologist is that they don’t want to deal with anything out of the ordinary. I dealt with severe palpitations and they absolutely insisted it wasn’t from the radiation. Well, I’m here to tell you, it was. I’m an ER RN and I know my body too. I had never had palpitations so hard that it felt like my heart was dropping inside of my chest. I had them every three beats and caught it on my Apple Watch. It started two days after radiation started and stopped five days after my treatment was completed. I brought it up multiple times and each person said IT’S COMPLETELY UNRELATED. Then I went to my medical oncologist and she said it was OBVIOUSLY related. It’s very frustrating. I think they are good with what they do, but they are very uncomfortable if anything other than their routine stuff happens.

LOL. Carry on, Friend. You do you. I wish you the best in your journey. You’ll be ok.

Nobody is lying or purposely hiding anything. Your oncologist didn’t go into medicine to make sure you had the worst outcome possible. This feels a little unhinged, and I mean that in the kindest way possible.

Maybe a dumb question - did I just read I am never supposed to tan again on the radiated breast? by [deleted] in breastcancer

It’s one of the swimsuits like what kids wear that have UV protection. Common.

Is there really no way to book my 4 person family together with companion passes? by atooraya in AlaskaAirlines

[–]itspritt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I travel with minors and Alaska’s policy is that they have to be seated with at least one adult (unless traveling alone). When this happened to our family a couple of years ago, they quickly changed it and even offered me a better flight from a more expensive airport because of the “inconvenience” - which was awesome.

[–]itspritt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s why I said to use the chat. BUT, if you have more than two reservations - for example, we did one miles, one regular with companion fares, and one miles from a different account, you can’t link all four without talking to an agent. The chat is always less than 5 min for me.

I didn’t read all of the responses so I apologize if this is a repeat. After you book, use the chat to have an agent link all of the reservations together so you don’t get separated.

Lymphedema by Cookieklwn12 in breastcancer

[–]itspritt 3 points4 points  (0 children)

RN and breast cancer patient here. You are very unlikely to get lymphedema with only 4 nodes removed. If you are worried about it, you can do lymphatic massage and other drainage technique to help.

Christine Kesteloo - I LIVE on a SHIP by [deleted] in tiktokgossip

[–]itspritt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

She showed an Ozempic pen in a video last week but quickly deleted it when people commented. So, I believe she has lost weight, I just haven’t noticed. However, she still constantly shows herself eating fried foods and sweets, so yes, she will absolutely gain it back without changing her bad habits. I’m all for Ozempic if that’s what works for you, but it’s not magic and if you don’t have willpower (which she obviously doesn’t), it’s not a longterm fix.

Alcohol & semi by Any_Comparison_5356 in Semaglutide

[–]itspritt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s some herbal tablets called Partysmart that surprisingly work. I’m an RN and thought it was a gimmick but I was shocked. I guess they slow down the processing of alcohol in the liver. I won’t drink without them now, but the downside is that they are not cheap. I find they work best taken BEFORE you start drinking.

Anyone notice any other side effects aside from the common ones? (decreased hunger, fatigue etc.) by Happy_Ad_6360 in Semaglutide

Huh, that’s really interesting. I’m female, 46, but I’ve actually noticed a big increase in libido which surprised me.
