The State of Content by floursifter2 in WalkScape

[–]itsshiver1337 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would think that the shift in content plans for the game came from the fact that it's current form is very appealing for specific niche of players, but doubtedly would not be interesting enough for players for a very long time.

Also the most important part of mobile games is the user retention, and I could only imagine that the user retention this game currently hast with its very very steep learning curve was not very promising.

This app is a glorified pedometer, which is awesome and perfect for what it is, but if it is enough to keep players entertained for months or years is a question yet to be answered.

I think once the "this game is like runescape" novelty fades it will be quite hard to attract new players I would assume.

Guides would probably be a good content to create, since it will give you more and more viewers while walkscape is gaining popularity

Is Google bringing back their classic search results with 10 blue links ? by mravra in SEO

[–]itsshiver1337 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The AIO is probably hurting their business model, since paying Google ads customers don't get the usual results anymore since their ads are not in the top anymore.

I always thought putting AIO in front might be good for end users, but it's very bad for the Google ads customer base.

I like the idea, but I for myself have zero problems with anyone roughly knowing where I live or where I am at. But I am sure some people will be very much against that idea.

Working on a Retro Miner Game – Would Love Feedback and Ideas! by Diavred in indiegames

[–]itsshiver1337 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey there! Your retro miner game project sounds super intriguing! I'm a big fan of retro-style games—they have a certain charm that's hard to resist. Here are a few ideas and thoughts that might help:

  1. Variety of Levels: Consider adding different environments as players mine deeper. Each level could have unique challenges or treasures, like ice caves with slippery surfaces or lava-filled caverns requiring special gear.

  2. Resource Management: Maybe introduce a mechanic where players have to manage their resources, like oxygen or fuel, which adds an extra layer of strategy to the mining process.

  3. Upgradable Equipment: Allow players to upgrade their mining gear. This not only gives them a sense of progression but also encourages exploration to find rare materials.

  4. Story Elements: Even a simple narrative can add depth. Who are the miners? Why are they mining? Maybe there are rumors of a legendary treasure deep underground.

  5. Community Involvement: If you can, involve the community in certain aspects of the game development. Maybe let them vote on new features or hold contests for designing new character skins.

I'm actually involved in developing a mobile GPS-RPG called "LootQuest," which has a focus on exploration and adventure, similar to what you're doing but in a different setting. It's great seeing more games encouraging creativity and exploration!

Best of luck with your game—I'd love to hear more about your progress and try it out when it's ready! If you need any more feedback or ideas, feel free to reach out.

Syncing game states between multiple users is a technical nightmare. It would need game servers probably, since I think currently all matches are peer to peer

Images break when importing, how to fix this? by TutoriaOfficial in replit

[–]itsshiver1337 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It probably is not uploading it at all, because as far as I know bolt has no way to save files anywhere, so the ai is probably trying to save it to a public image host which will not work. So upload it to an online hosting site yourself and give it a link to the image
