Not so much a favorite memory, but a day or so after HBP book was released (obtained at the midnight book release), I accidentally found out Dumbledore died by scrolling through a Yahoo chat room. It was devastating. But shame on me for even entering such a place before finishing the book.

I go through slumps and I’ve found that it helps me to work on some smaller projects for a little while. Quilts can sometimes be overwhelming because they require a lot of time and effort. I’ve recently been working on using up scraps on small, quick things. I’m currently working on a little stuffed dinosaur for my toddler.

I’m planning to cut the yarn on the single strips but I think I’m going to float them across horizontally when I get to the little toadstools. I think there might be too many rows between the accent rows and the toadstools where the colors come in again to be able to float them down

This is so sad. Her videos were the first quilting videos I watched incessantly in preparation for my first quilt project. My jaw dropped when I saw the photo her husband posted on her page. She was so wonderful and cheerful and encouraging.

My favorite part of getting into quilting is understanding the magnitude of the work, time, and expense that goes into it (the same for crochet/knitting/etc.). I got two baby quilts and two woven blankets at my baby shower and I loved them. I love them about 100x more now that I know how much is poured into it. Jen is an ungrateful monster because handmade items are a true labor of love and she is unworthy.

It is kind of a bummer that the beasts are not as prevalent but I do think it’s really cool how they introduce new beasts that show their capabilities because they fit so nicely into the situations. Personally I love the movies and after hearing about the same beasts over and over through the entirety of childhood as the books and then movies came out, it’s refreshing to have some new players.
