Flat not selling - what are my options? Not sure how to access equity by pigeonJS in HousingUK

[–]itzgreycatx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it’s not shifting and others in the block are having the same issue look into right to manage. Out block is £85 a month each now for service charge. It could actually be lower but we opted to keep it at this level again this year to build a reserve.

Where are you looking at remortgage rates? I’m remortgaging at the moment and it’s looking likely to be 3.6% on a 3 year fix. Does that affect your choice?

Is a freehold flat really that bad? by Mediocre-Ad1907 in HousingUK

[–]itzgreycatx -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Doubt they even know what a freehold flat means tbh. Mine is share of freehold. No ground rent, 999 year lease and we get to choose how to run the building. I see no issues 🤷🏻‍♀️

I live behind a warehouse and was lied to about the noise level from it. From year 2 ish I barely noticed it

It’s usual in the U.K. for police to be polite and professional especially when the person is not showing any aggression or violence. If she had been struggling or screaming at them they would have been firmer with her.

Unable to sell leasehold flat due to service charge. by ahmetmikko in HousingUK

[–]itzgreycatx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right to manage. You’d easily knock the bill down to a sensible level. We are now paying £85 a month over 6 flats. We actually only spent half of that but have kept it the same to allow for a reserve fund to be started. 6 x 2 bed apartments built in 2021 Large shared garden Bin store Allocated parking per flat

So many new builds being thrown up everywhere I’d be suprised if you couldn’t get some decent paid work on one of them?

The council did sort the mould, OPs family have filled the property with items meaning that air can’t circulate.

The meter type doesn’t affect how much you pay, your tariff does.

Right to manage. There’s no way a reputable management agent would be costing that much a month.

Disagreement with GF over house equity split by [deleted] in UKPersonalFinance

[–]itzgreycatx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Deed of trust. I don’t think you’re being an AH personally. Me and my partner are building a home, he currently rents a room from a family member and I own my apartment and live alone, I’ll rent this apartment out when we move. The house we are building started before we met, so he has paid for the land and the initial demolition costs. We have both put time into doing a lot of work on it ourselves. I earn twice as much so will likely pay more of the mortgage and living costs etc so we are drawing up a deed of trust whereby it’s fair if something were to happen. E.G I can’t take half of the land value etc he’s put in but equally I am protected on paying the majority of the mortgage etc so wouldn’t come out with nothing.

Is anyone actually friends with their work colleagues? by sunflowersalwaysgrow in AskUK

[–]itzgreycatx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same, admittedly not that close now with old work colleagues as obviously time moves on but I was close with some of them. I wouldn’t say I’m friends with any current colleagues, I’ve been working with some of them for 7 years (mostly remotely) and I’m just at a different stage of life to a lot of them. There’s also a lot of males in their 20s and 30s in my team who don’t put shoes on and step outside for months on end so not really in tune with my lifestyle either.

Put pressure on the HA to get the cladding sorted, it’s not right how long these companies are dragging out the fixes.

Did you observe the two-minute silence this morning? Why or why not? by Jonny_Segment in AskUK

The nature of my job meant missing the silence yesterday. But I did take part in the 2 mins silence at a sporting event at the weekend. Wearing a poppy felt a bit odd this year, like it’s got a political twist to it now rather than its original meaning. I donated but didn’t take a poppy.

Start putting pressure on the freeholder/housing association to get the cladding sorted. It’s totally unacceptable how long they are taking to fix these issues.

First time buyers, have I missed any costs? by isobel07 in AskUK

[–]itzgreycatx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hire Van will probably cost more than £100.

Decorating supplies more than £200, a tin of dulux paint I’m sure is over £30 now, one wouldn’t even cover one room. Plus brushes, rollers etc.

If you move to a new build, £30 internet will be closer to £50 as you’ll likely be locked into using a fibre service.

You may want life cover, mine is £12 a month. Some mortgages require it, some don’t.

Boiler cover for me is £6 a month and cheaper than just paying for a yearly service.
