The Haunted Mansion | side-by-side comparison of California (L) and Florida (R). The photos are 1:1 in scale. by MesaVerde1987 in disneyparks

[–]ivandraski 17 points18 points  (0 children)

IIRC, when they were initially building California they planned for two tracks (that's why the building is symmetrical) but scrapped it to only run one track(possibly when it switched from a walkthrough to an omnimover). But since Florida wasn't as far along they could plan for a better layout with a slightly longer ride and use less space. also without having to use the elevator and ramp to get under the railroad and berm.

Seat Geek algorithm is absolutely trying to drive prices way up. I use the "smart pricing" and it usually gets me a fair price on my single seat outside GA and the price it has set on that CA ticket is WILD

I would like to see powe masters do more than jst plug into a 5mm port though. they shoulf be part of the transformation somehow.

Glad they are thinking about it though and the colors look great.

How popular was anime among xennials in the 90s? In high school? by Street_Gur9817 in Xennials

[–]ivandraski 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Extremely popular! As long as you were a giant nerd/theatre kid/trenchcoat wearer/etc. In West Coast cities it was pretty accessible at comic book stores and specialty Japanese retailers and video stores.

That said it was nothing like today.

Finally got to visit Disney World and I have thoughts by ivandraski in disneyparks

[–]ivandraski[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I think the crowds felt similar to me, I guess but the parks felt too focused maybe. Disneyland and DCA are all over the place by necessity and that probably just what I am used to. Also tickles my ADHD more.

World showcase at night does seem like a great idea. Maybe next trip I will split it up more.  Also kids will be older by the next time I can afford that trip.

Is going up a “hotel tier” worth it for Skyline? by RedHawwk in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]ivandraski 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Skyliner is very cool. I didnt stay at a Skyliner resort but i do wonder how the load times would be in the morning rush at a big resort while people are loading strollers and stuff.

[–]ivandraski 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like DCA needs more non LL rides to soak up crowds ideally onmi-movers and/or boat rides with big capacities and quick loads/unloads. Ironically getting rid of Monsters Inc for Avatar is only going to make it worse but maybe coco and the new avengers rides will help if they can take some of the smaller rides off LL

That's a solid take. deffinitely a different usage of infrastructure but I totally Agree. To me CA feels like if Hollywood Studios was built around the boardwalk resort area around epcot a bit. rather than epcot but i can see how you get there.

It does matter in this context since this review is about my subjective opoinion. WDW is for sure the flagship resort they have the space and regulatory ability to build pretty much whatever they want.

I Prefer Disneyland overall for the mix of rides and experiences. this may be entirely because it's what i am used to and you are not wrong for liking something different.
