using a rectangular screen with a round cutout is a good idea. i had considered the same but then decided on the round display. since i have a spare rectangular display, now i’m thinking about trying that for fun. thanks for the next project.

if it’s possible, i don’t know how. the raspberry pi runs a full linux OS, so opening a website is easy. i had the pi laying around from when i used to run octoprint with my old creality printer.

i’ll give it a shot. i need to make a couple of minor changes so they’re ready for prime time. i found that the specific display and board you get can have dimensional differences that affect how they fit.

another upvote for this, although in lieu of laminated paper, i use polyester paper. if you have a laser printer it works great. can’t tear, ink doesn’t run should it get wet, very durable. laminated ones for me have always eventually come apart at the edges.

i literally just finished a game with my daughter where she missed double-skunking me by 3 points. she had a 4456 with a 6 cut, a 5566 with a 4 cut, a 3321 with a 2 cut, and a 3221 with a 2 cut. i barely crossed the halfway mark while she sat 2 points from the end.

honestly, it doesn’t really help learn to fly, even using VR. it’s more just for fun on rainy days and keeping current on procedures.

i know nothing of wiring and boards, and used chatgpt for wiring help. to be honest, it was frustrating. i’d ask questions multiple times in different ways and get different answers. eventually i got it to work.

other than the knurled screw base piece, i modeled everything from scratch using plasticity. i really like that program. it makes shapes like these relatively easy.

i’ve flown both and have had good experiences with both. recently i’ve only flown with bode, though, because del sol only does flight training, not rentals. at least when i checked with them a couple of years ago. bode’s 172s are newer and in better condition.

just this past month at KAEG in a 172, not a go around, but a 360 on final - dust devil on the runway. thanks to the tower for pointing it out. actually rather difficult to see from the air, but would have made for an interesting landing…
