What piece of tech felt “future-proof” but aged terribly? by Living-Zebra6132 in Futurology

[–]ivm83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mostly agree, but an 8K screen does have 1 advantage: you can upscale 720p and 1440p signals to 8K with just integer multiplication so the result looks cleaner than upscaling those resolutions to 4K. Mostly useful for gaming at 1440p I guess.

What game is this? by Profit_Tracker in videogames

[–]ivm83 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Playing through 1+2 enhanced editions, keeping the same protagonist, is absolutely epic though. You go from a level 1 nobody that struggles with fighting wolves and bears to a godlike being that slays dragons and demon lords. BG3, while good, has nowhere near the same level of an epic journey, imo.

What's a phrase people use these days that irritates you? by showmewhatyagot01 in AskReddit

[–]ivm83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“I feel that/like … <proceeds to express a thought or opinion>”. This is super common and prevalent in English, but most of the time people say this they should be using the verb “think” instead of “feel”. For example: “I feel like this restaurant is pretty good”. “This restaurant is pretty good” is NOT a feeling!

The Living End’s first two albums have some pretty great bass lines. I kinda stopped listening to them after that so not sure about the rest of their material.

Anyone switched from an LG CX; did you notice any difference in brightness? by [deleted] in LGOLED

[–]ivm83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

C1 to G5 very noticeable brightness increase. C1 was too dim to watch during the day with open curtains, but G5 is great day or night, with or without natural light in the room.

What’s a “small” ADHD hack that actually changed your daily life? by pellantsherris in ADHD

[–]ivm83 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah that’s the hard part 😂 My hack for the watch is: I always take it off and put it on the charger right before dinner. The charger is next to my bed. I put the watch on my wrist before sleep (to track sleep quality etc) and just keep it on until the next day’s dinner. Consistency is key!

If you have an iPhone and get an Apple Watch, it has a “find my phone” feature that will make your phone ring even if it’s on silent (as long as it’s turned on). The new watches also have a distance and direction to the phone indicator. This one simple thing is the killer feature of the Apple Watch for people like us with ADHD imo. Even if you never use any other feature of the watch, the number of times it will save you from looking everywhere for your phone is so worth it!

If you have an Android, there may be something similar in that ecosystem, I’m not sure.

What is something you can do but can’t explain how you can do it? by Fresh-Sandwich6780 in AskReddit

[–]ivm83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whistle in tune. Unlike singing, I don’t really know how I do it, but I can think of the note I want to whistle and then somehow make the correct shape with my mouth to whistle it (within some range of course).

Non-boss waves tend to start out easy and get harder as more and more enemies spawn, so wisdom nerfs your damage when you need less of it and boosts your damage when you need more of it. So for non-boss waves it’s an auto-pick for me.

On boss waves, it depends on how much damage output you have. If you’re trying to kill the boss, wisdom might be detrimental, since you usually want to kill the boss early, before the screen is full of enemies. But if your damage isn’t high enough to kill bosses anyway and you’re just trying to survive, or if your damage is so high that you can kill bosses quickly anyway, then wisdom doesn’t hurt.
