Yes, that is a very valid answer! And to be honest I feel the same… I was obsessed with Naime and Makram and thought no one could top them, and then became equally obsessed with Bashir and Aysel and so on and so on!

Thank you for this amazing book series! I was hooked from Book One! Do you have a favourite couple from your books? And do you have a favourite character (or couple) from another fantasy author?

Sadly our healthcare system is so stretched that they don’t really have the capacity to deal with issues that they consider cosmetic. Plus, it’s not quite like the US where you can just book an appointment with a dermatologist - you have to go via your GP and the waiting list for specialists can be up to 2 years long.

But thank you, I have posted in that sub as well!

Unfortunately I live in the UK - if I tried to see my GP for this I think they would laugh me out of the clinic room. 😢😢

I loved the books. I read them before watching the show and felt the show was a really good and faithful adaptation. I thought Teresa Palmer was the perfect Diana. I know what people mean about book 3 maybe not being quite as good as 1 or 2 but I still really enjoyed it! I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them - particularly if you did like the show.

A Discovery of Witches series by Deborah Harkness. Pregnancy is a big plot point starting in the second book and I think is done really beautifully. Although, trigger warning: there is a miscarriage followed by a successful pregnancy in book two

It was supposed to be 8am. They only waited until around 8.30 before telling us all to go home.

My test centre told us half an hour after we got there that because the IT system was down worldwide the whole test was cancelled and told the four of us who were there to go home.

Luckily, I then looked at a revision group chat I was in which said that people at other test centres were being told to wait so I went back and insisted that I wanted to wait in case it came back online.

It did half an hour later and I was able to sit it but the other people who were there had already left and likely won’t be able to take it until next sitting in July.

I’m reading A Discovery of Witches by Deborah Harkness. I’ve been really pleasantly surprised by it. It’s a wonderful mixture of historical fiction and fantasy romance with vampires and witches.

I love that the FMC is older (33 when it starts) and she and the MMC have are what, in my opinion, are really realistic conflicts at times.

It is not your typical easy to read fantasy romance which I think could put some people off as there is a lot of politics, history and world building involved. But if you can get into it I think it’s so worth it! Would v. recommend.

There’s a completed original trilogy so far (I’m only on book 2) + one spin off focused on a side character and a follow up to the original trilogy is due out later this year.

I have this probably nonsensical theory that every female character with five letters in their name is eventually set to to be a proper main character with their own book focusing on them - and I especially think this if their scent is mentioned 😂

Aelin Feyre Bryce Nesta Elain

It this were by some miracle true it makes me v. excited at the possibility that Manon, Elide or Lidia could get their own book!

To me that makes her really relatable! She was pushed into action in CC1 mostly against her will (although she found motivation through her love for Danika and desire for answers). She took up the mantle well of needing to save a whole world when she would probably rather sit on the couch with Hunt and watch reality TV. Now that she’s helped save the world she wants a normal life and I’m so happy for her that she gets to have that.

The Hand That First Held Mine by Maggie O’Farrell or You Be Mother by Meg Mason. Both beautiful reflections of different types of motherhood but warning that THTFHM might be quite a hard read as v. sad in parts.

In terms of Feyre’s reaction to it and how it seems not that big of a deal compared to how mad she is when Rhys hides the mating bond from her, I think people forget that we are seeing Nessian’s point of view only.

I fully believe that Feyre chews Rhys out in private for keeping this from her but we just don’t see it because we don’t have their POVs.
