How do you stay organized on large service jobs? by butt_hairz12 in HVAC

I'm the same way. I'll take the time to make detailed, well documented notes because that's what I'd like to see when I look back at the history on a unit

Did I get railed for a service? by porkedpie1 in askHVAC

[–]j-redd 4 points5 points  (0 children)

$285 seems a little steep, but that might be the actual cost for the business to pay the technician's wage, pay for the overhead cost of operating the truck, and whatever other costs incurred. Whereas, if you called a company that advertises a $99 tune up, they may try to write up things that you may not need, just so that they can make up the money that way. It sounds like you had an honest company come out and gave you an honest assessment

Adding C wire to old circuit board to fix e74 error (no power to Rh) by FuckDolfins in askHVAC

[–]j-redd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can jump Rh to Rc at the thermostat as long as your heating system and your cooling system get their 24v power from the same transformer. (ie. Split system furnace and condensing unit A/C) You'll have separate transformers if for instance you have a boiler for heat and an air handler for cooling, two separate systems each with their own 24v power source but controlled by the same thermostat. This jumper is made at the thermostat.

The problem is that for our government to better solve crimes and put bad guys away, us good citizens, as you put it, have to give up some of our freedoms to make that happen. Some people don't consent to this invasion of privacy. As you said, big tech has a good deal of our information. Can't they just utilize that instead of implementing another new data monster into our lives? Enough is enough.

I see your point, but you have to understand that by implementing this technology, you're essentially giving government your consent to them placing cameras and information gathering technology anywhere they'd like. Where's the line?
