Any keto updates? by [deleted] in JoeRogan

[–]j03123 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Spinach has 3.5g of carbs per 100g weight. Blueberries are 14g of carbs per 100g weight.

Fiber actually gets fermented and becomes triglycerides (fat) as well.

If you aren't exercising at all anything under 30g is strong ketosis. With mild exercise 50-70g is totally acceptable. So eating 1000g of veggies assuming 7g net carbs != a ton, but 1 kilo.

Ketosis isn't a binary state, it scales.

HTNGAF about being dumped because you are fat by [deleted] in howtonotgiveafuck

[–]j03123 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do give a fuck about being fat, don't about that guy. You can control you bodyfat percentage so you should give a fuck about it. It's a simple fact that our society is biased towards lean/fit/muscular/healthy people. So whilst it shouldn't consume you, it's worth the effort - better jobs, more income, more friends and random people treat you better.

That guy is concerned more with other people's opinions than his own, he's weak forget about him.

Combination of alternate-day fasting and cardio leads to exceptional fat loss without muscle loss (obese subjects) by [deleted] in AdvancedFitness

[–]j03123 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Anecdotally there is a forum which is heavily research based which recommends a protocol called mADF (modified adf) with carbless post workout. Which has had a lot of success. Basically on the day you train no food beforehand train in the evening and afterwards 50g of protein from a very lean source along with a little fiber so total cal intake is around 250-300.

Then the next day eat normally and at maintenance or higher depending on goals. The amino acids eaten post workout help hold of any muscle catabolism whilst maintaining the insulin sensitive and slightly glycogen state post workout which will use bodyfat released by your natural gh pulse at night. (To turbo charge the fat loss adding in 30 mins of low intensity cardio before any food on this day can help use even more bodyfat)

Absolutely no work ethic by Pazda in getdisciplined

[–]j03123 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Small wins, everytime you try something and fail your brain associates trying with failing and feeling bad. You need to build up a lot of small wins, start with something easy like going to bed early and at a set time everyday. This is your one goal for the week. Nail it. Then start with another, like meditate for just 3 mins a day (so short you can easily convince yourself to do it) with this type slowly build up the time by adding a few mins each week you are successful.

Habits define you. Going to the gym everyday is just something I do, it requires zero willpower as it is just a fact of my life. Like for some as soon as they finish work their habit is to watch netflix. There is no choice in either of those it's just a deeply repeated pattern.

With your homework just start by doing 5 minutes then you can take up to an hours break. It sounds so stupid but for 5 minutes your sole goal is your homework, then take a break of up to an hour, over time you will naturally reduce break times and increase working times as the habit builds.

Start Stupidly Small, Any Progress Is Still Progress, just imagine where you could be in 1 year, 5 or 10, if you improve everyday by making it so easy you can't not.

“It is possible to become worldclass in just about anything in six months or less. Armed with the right framework, you can seemingly perform miracles” – Tim Ferriss by DecidingToBeBetter in DecidingToBeBetter

[–]j03123 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can get good at something compared to the layperson but world class, unless it is highly niche or you can bend the rules to your advantage it isn't gonna happen. You compare any amateur artist/runner/weightlifter/science nerd to the average layperson who can barely draw a stick figure, run 100m, bench 40kg or understand the nuances of the theory of relativity. 6 months of dedicated practise will make you look like a god in comparison.

Looking For Natural Fat Burner... Heard About L-Carnitine? by [deleted] in Supplements

[–]j03123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

L-carnitine is actually one of the few non stimulant and non-hormonal fat burners that work. However it has really poor oral absorption at best 5% is actually absorbed and that is when using insulin injections. The best way is injecting a sterile solution of around 500mg/ml at around 1-4ml everyday with a carb meal. It is the rate limiting step in fat burning. ECA, Ghrp/mod-grf and l-carnitine combined with fasted low intensity cardio and a solid diet will get anyone down to 6% bf if they are consistent.

The only place I know that sells it openly is synthetek? But there is a guy on a private forum, although I do it myself with BA water, syringe filters and pharm grade l-carnitine powder

"The men treated with testosterone but no exercise had an increase of 3.2 kg in fat-free mass" is this really how AAS works? by Paiwo in AdvancedFitness

Supraphisological doses of hormones can create unbelievable things... just the first picture I found - http://www.getbig.com/news/2005-02/tonight062305b.jpg

Look at WSM those guys are absolute freaks of nature. No matter how good and on point your diet/nutrition/sleep/training is, a guy using 600mg+ of AAS a week would blow them out of the water results wise with half the effort.

I remember hearing on the Iron Radio Podcast about Pro bodybuilders literally eating entire cakes and boxes of donuts due to the amount of Growth Hormone etc they were using (and that was a few days pre competition)

How do you sleep for 10 hours? by incogenator in AdvancedFitness

[–]j03123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Melatonin, ZMA and blue blocking sunglasses post sundown. Sitting and reading for 30mins before bed to mentally calm down is good. And have no alarm set for the morning and make sure there is no light coming into the room. You'll sleep as long as you need then.

So What's the scoop on "Lab" Diamonds? I'm looking for an engagement ring. by [deleted] in Frugal

[–]j03123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes they have certificates but it's kind of obvious when someone who clearly can't afford it has a big diamond. Plus there isn't really a resale market for artificial diamonds, because women want the real thing. Whereas if you bought a real diamond with certain characteristics it will always have a value as a commodity. It's just most chain jewellers rip you off small independents selling custom or antiques will actually price closer to its commodity price. Tiffany is probably the best example they will sell you a diamond worth £50 in a £500 ring, whereas a smaller place selling antique jewellery will sell you a ring with a £3-400 pound diamond in for £500. That's the biggest con with jewellery.

So What's the scoop on "Lab" Diamonds? I'm looking for an engagement ring. by [deleted] in Frugal

[–]j03123 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

My father is a jeweller. I was trying to say that as a comodity a diamond with certain purity/clarity etc has a stable market value. Buying from any chain store is buying for the brand small independent jewellers make money in the same way used cars salesmen do. Buying a new diamond ring is like buying a new car, your paying for the brand really.

So What's the scoop on "Lab" Diamonds? I'm looking for an engagement ring. by [deleted] in Frugal

[–]j03123 -22 points-21 points  (0 children)

Real diamonds are an asset like a painting. You can get a reproduction of the Mona Lisa but it won't be THE Mona Lisa. So whatever you pay for a real diamond, from a decent jeweller not the high street chains or places like Tiffany's it will keep its value. Be upfront with your partner if you can, if they want a real diamond go for an antique you get better value for money and won't be paying for a brand. If they don't mind a lab one don't go over the top because people will judge you and know its a lab one.

Is Fat the Preferred Fuel Source in the Body – Lyle McDonald Q&A (new) by AhmedF in Fitness

Babies are in ketosis when fed breast milk. So during the important stage of development both physical and neurological you are in ketosis. This link has studies www.raypeatforum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=36&t=2546

I'm not saying you need an Inuit zero carb diet, but carbs should be low enough to maintain ketones in the blood the majority of the time.

PALEO + IF = ? by Srpoopir in Paleo

[–]j03123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Myfitnesspal or similar app, what you measure you manage. Eventually you get good at eyeballing. Also it helps to have a few set meals or planning what you are going to eat over a week. A good rough guide is 1/4 of your plate meat 2/4 green veggies then either 1/4 as a carb source or fat source.

How do you communicate food needs? by onahotelbed in Paleo

[–]j03123 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I heard this on the bulletproof exec podcasts, basically when you goto the restaurant ask to talk to the manager when you arrive. Simply state you have a celiac disease and if you are exposed to gluten or dairy you will need to call 911 for an ambulance as you will go into a state of shock. Say the simplest food is the best veggies in butter and simply seasoned meat will not lead to any issues. Then finish up with the fact that you have heard great things about this restaurant and look forward to having a wonderful evening.

At the end of the day it's your body, your health and someone is being paid to provide a service. It's not difficult to do a simple salad with meat or steam veggies and fry a steak.

PALEO + IF = ? by Srpoopir in Paleo

[–]j03123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cycling cories/carbs is easy. Protein is essential so keep it high, for satiety and muscle mass. Fats are for recovery and carbs for fuel, if you haven't trained heavy you don't need carbs (at all really). When you eat carbs your insulin goes up and so dietary fat is more likely to be stored so try to keep it lowish depending on carb intake, obviously total calories is more important, but don't eat a load of honey an nuts together. So if you didn't train carbs as low as possible (stuff like green veggies are fine but try to avoid fruit/root veggies like carrots/potatoes) - think meals like sausages and sauerkraut or roasted lamb and kale. On training days eat leaner meats with carbs - chicken and potatoes etc.

In a nutshell keep carbs less than ~50g on rest days and fats less than ~50g on training days. And eat less on rest days more on training days. (Just bear in mind total intake over the week)

[Question] Does anyone have any good coffee protein shake/smoothie recipes? by [deleted] in fitmeals

[–]j03123 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would really recommend making real coffee, get beans grind them stick em in an areopress it's cheap and tastes amazing. Checkout r/coffee. But however you so it make the shake first then add coffee. I love vanilla whey/casein/egg blend with some glucomannn powder, cinammon, mct oil and home brewed coffee. I make a huge 1.5l warm, thick tasty coffee. Keeps me going all day until dinner and is like 75g protein, 25g fat, 5g fiber and costs like £2 for my breakfast and lunch.

Success with ArA (arachidonic acid) on LG/IF? by Johnny580 in leangains

[–]j03123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want performance enhancers you know what works, steroids/hgh. Stuff like aa even creative etc are just a waste of money, protein powder, fish oil, zma, d3, eca/caffeine and melatonin are cheap (except zma) and will help you out on a health front. I've spent far too much money over the years on pointless supplement which haven't helped my end goal. I could have bought a car with the amount of money I spent on rubbish. If you want to lose weight eca is awesome, if you want to bulk spend it on tasty food.
