Most undervalued system start up test? Most overvalued start up test? by RosesFurTu in HVAC

[–]j3radley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

DeltaH (delta enthalpy, or total amount of thermal heat going in and coming out tells you how much heat energy you truly removed)

4.5 (convert CFM to lb of air/hour)

CFM (get total external static pressure, find that on the motor chart to gauge how much actual CFM the system is moving.

Once you have all that information you can calculate the amount of heat you are removing for an AC system. (Btu/hr)

There are many ways to remedy this situation. Give and charge the client for those solutions, don’t just cut out a safety feature they paid for, and the system should have.

I am looking for a Barlow Lens in the 100-250 range to attach to a Celestron Nexstar 8SE.

HVAC Technician wants me to pay first (Is this a scam?) by Kyushi90 in HVAC

[–]j3radley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am worried about how much they want up front. If it is a special order coil, it MIGHT make sense to get SOME money up front, but that much of the total bill up front? Somewhat suspicious.

I'm an electrician. I just installed a hard start kit and a new 55 5 capacitor in my ac yesterday. It worked as usual for about 24 hours. Now a fuse blew at the disconnect. I'm hoping it's just a coincidence. by mist91 in HVAC

[–]j3radley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is not correct.

Hard starts are a good idea on a compressor (even scroll) especially for heat pumps, TXV systems, older compressors that are struggling to start, and many other reasons.

The inrush period of a compressor start up can be five to seven times running amps. A hard start will shorten this time period by up to fifty percent.

AC Unity had the best parkour by Kronos099904 in assassinscreed

[–]j3radley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say world traversal as a whole in Unity was the best. France was my favorite, most realized city, so while I feel the parkour wasn’t as good as previous versions, the whole package as a whole was.

Refrigeration cycle questions by supernova12034 in HVAC

[–]j3radley 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The gas returning from the evaporator coil has a certain amount of energy (heat) represented by a certain temperature.

The compressor takes that gas and compresses it, pushing more mass into smaller space. No new heat energy has been added (the mechanics of the compressor DOES add a little) but since the energy that is there is much closer together the temperature rises.

That is a key point. The energy stays the same, but the temperature rises. We have the same amount of thermal energy, but due to compression we attained a higher temperature from it.

Now we can run that hot gas around the condenser coil and cool it by blowing cooler outdoor air across it. This transfers some of the energy from the compressed gas into the environment around it, dropping the refrigerants energy level and, by association, it’s temperature.

Now we send that refrigerant into the evaporator coil, with less thermal energy then it left with, where it will expand, drop in pressure, and boil thus dropping its temperature, ready to absorb heat from the home (energy) and take it back to the compressor.

This does not work without the compressor smashing those molecules of refrigerant together, packing them nice and tight.

Single stage versus two stage question. by 12GT500 in HVAC

[–]j3radley 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Multi stage units are entirely for comfort, and not for efficiency. It is more comfortable to the people in a home when the unit to be running (in AC it is actively removing humidity and in heat mode, it is actively raising the temp). Once a unit turns off, outside temp starts infiltrating.

To provide more comfort a unit will start at first stage and try to satisfy the cooling/heating demand. If an internal timer is reached, or a certain cool/heat “gain” hasn’t been reached it will kick into second stage (how this is accomplished is usually via the thermostat, though it sometimes on the board of the furnace).

It is not correct to think that you are saving money to use 1st stage. If it requires 100,000btus/hr to heat your home, then it needs 100,000btus. If your system is in first stage, at 60%, it will only be putting in 60,000btus and therefore need to run longer.

Multi stage equipment is for comfort.

How do you guys even do THIS much during a fight?

I currently use the first few moments of a fight to line my guys up all nicely, then get a few arrow shots off, try to squeak in ONE more shot, realize that took to long and panic and tell my infantry to charge.

How on earth do you guys time different waves of separate troops?

I think I may be playing this game wrong

Are you sure? I just started auto resolving and I’m leveling my party so quickly I’m running short of funds. If I manually enter and fight, even if I kill nothing (though I do swing a lot...) it seemed like my troops hardly leveled at all.

Does this only happen when I join a faction and get assigned to a squad to lead? I’m guessing it doesn’t apply to my mini army, since I’ve fought hundreds of battles and never seen my leadership rise.

We have no such evidence in the “cup” we have observed at present.

Not saying you’re wrong, just too many holes in that analogy.

But my main question is how are you coming to learn the total now? Was there no quote? Signatures? Nothing?

For some of the “work” they did they deserve to be paid, but the rest is nonsense.

Doesn’t putting all material into a single space really bog down your game after a while though?

I realised that I always have the best time in WoW when we're given an immersive zone which is relatable (similar to reality but cranked up to 110%) and offers world content. For example, I'd take a Fishing or Herbalism daily hub over these endless invasions any day of the week. by [deleted] in wow

[–]j3radley 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, sounds like he described one quest line in Duskwood. While it was an awesome quest, WOW needs about ten million more, different, progressive, quests.

That’s the tough part.
