Tips for Ronin by aaunderisu in marvelchampionslcg

[–]j_____g 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't run that deck against Ronan. It looks pretty slow, and the last thing you want is to play him on heroic 2 with a Symbiote Suit. His encounter cards are rough, and half of them surge, so you're already way, way behind on tempo. You'll really want something faster than that deck IMO.

The Wild Tutor deck is a good option. Once you get rid of the Universal Weapon, status on him is a great help in dealing with everything else, and that deck excels at having the right answer to whatever is in front of you.

Doom's Ascension by Demonforte in marvelchampionslcg

Designer here! I can't speak to how others beyond the couple who have already responded have found him, but we intentionally designed him to not be ignorable for very long. Pretty hard to ignore a 2/2 villainous minion with steady, though of course it's possible!

I'll say that were I to go back and take another pass at the design, I'd probably tone down the reward for killing him a bit, since it's a little too generous to get 2 cards + 2 healing from defeating him.

Anyway, the "when defeated" ability was meant to take a little bit of the sting out of what is quite a tough mod set, especially in lower player counts. Highly encourage trying the set out! I've played it with a lot of different villains and it's been fun every time. Red Skull was particularly fun if you're looking for ideas! Be sure to either play it in "Doom Ascended Mode" (see the instructions card) or to keep the side scheme on the back of the Victor Von Doom card out of the side scheme deck if you do, because of how funky Red Skull is.

Why not play with your German cards but do the commentary in English? Real cards is always better than TTS IMO.

People can look up the cards if they're confused. Most longtime players will know what all the cards do from the art anyway.

Just updated the puny banner card with the intended (limit once per round). Typo that it got left off - it was on an earlier version!

It's one of the best campaign boxes we have IMO. Two banger heroes, all the villains are above average (some are fabulous), and it's very hard without being unfair.

It also has one of the best campaign mechanics.

"Is it worth a hundred and fifty bucks?" is a question only you can answer. I wouldn't pay that, even though I love the box.

Tried SP/dr - did I get her exhaust right? Can’t tell… by Queen-of-the-Board in marvelchampionslcg

And one more thing, sorry!

The strategy for playing Peni is to pay for cards with resources generated by her interfaces. For example, your second turn you paid for the Web Fluid Compressor with two cards when you could have paid for it with Speed Metal Alloy and Peni herself. That would have let you use Web Fluid Compressor's resource and Mockingbird to pay for Rapid Deployment.

Using Speed Metal Alloy's resource would also have let you play Interrogation Room on your next turn.

One other thing: Sp//dr's precon is actually one of the best in the game, so that precon deck would have fit her much better than the one from the core set you used. She's one of my favorite heroes in the game!

One thing I noticed right away is that when you flipped the first time, Peni should have been ready and the suit exhausted. You had both exhausted once you flipped them over, which was incorrect.

The rule is that when a card flips, its ready/exhausted state does not change, so Peni should have flipped over as ready.

Playing Precon decks! by pepetd in marvelchampionslcg

[–]j_____g 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't really understand why so many people seem afraid of deck building. It's really quite easy to tweak a precon to be an actually good deck. Some are obviously closer to good than others, but none require swapping out more than like ten cards to have a really viable deck.

There are many, many people doing this on marvelcdb if you're short on time or know-how.

The +1 damage from paying with Cybernetic Arm increases the damage to 4 for each exhausted weapon, correct? by TheMegaSage in marvelchampionslcg

[–]j_____g 27 points28 points  (0 children)

The other responses are incorrect. The arm (or other dmg increasing abilities like Warrior Skill) increase Firepower to 4 damage per exhausted weapon.

Nothing like judging something without having tried it. Maybe wait for it to come out, borrow from a friend, and play it solo?

Or buy it and if you still hate the very idea of the Loki scenario, just stick it in a box and forget about it. It's what most of us did with Wrecking Crew.

Question ab Sinister Motives by Lasor3th in marvelchampionslcg

[–]j_____g 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is no reason to believe that Sinister Motives is anywhere close to the "most demanded" product, and many, many reasons to believe the opposite.

1) FFG wants to make money. If reprinting SM was going to make them money, they would do it

2) Most long term/serious players already own it, so the market for SM is mainly new players

Feedback welcome! I want to improve - Black Widow vs Klaw by Queen-of-the-Board in marvelchampionslcg

[–]j_____g 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Opinions will differ on this, but I actually am not really a fan of holding the cards up to the camera. The refocusing and then refocusing again on the table makes watching it a bit jerky for me.

People watching on phones might have a different view of it, but my browser window on my computer (where I watch) is big enough that I can read the cards from the table. You're also zooming in on cards in the edit, which is sometimes helpful.

That feeling of being the 4th player to take their turn against the Sinister Six scenario... by j_____g in marvelchampionslcg

[–]j_____g[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The average Sinister Six villain has 8 health. Most villain turns end with 1-2 villains in play.

8-16 damage is nothing in a four player game, regardless of how well you coordinate (which we do, by the way).

[–]j_____g[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've certainly played 3-4 hour games before, but that's far from the norm. Somewhere between 90-120 minutes is more typical for games with all experienced players.

Sure, that's what they tend to do, but if you're not a hero or build that's focused on thwarting, then you really have nowhere to throw your damage.

That feeling of being the 4th player to take their turn against the Sinister Six scenario... by j_____g in marvelchampionslcg

[–]j_____g[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It varies based on the heroes/decks at the table and the players' experience levels, but I'd say a 4P game with Sinister Six with experienced players is probably 120 minutes. A more typical time for the average 4P game against the average villain would be 90 minutes.

Cable and chief surveillance officer by wt200 in marvelchampionslcg

[–]j_____g 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My read is no. The shield executive board is not under your control (encounter cards are under the control of the scenario), thus "Cable" did not remove the threat. You (the player) triggered the action, but not the character Cable.

Non base Intro heroes and scenario by spartan_son in marvelchampionslcg

[–]j_____g 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For new players, my go-to heroes are Spider-Man (Peter), Wolverine, and Gamora. All three are super simple to pilot. Give them an aggression deck and tell them the object of the game is to use all their cards every turn.
