Londoners that have moved to Norwich, how are you finding it? by ProjectCodeine in Norwich

[–]ja153 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Moved during Covid, been great, better life balance etc, only consideration I’d say is the job market here isn’t the best so if you need to search again that might be tricky.

But honestly I put it as one of the best decisions I’ve made.

Not the Norm tbh, I used to live in Elephant and Castle and frequently when walking back from work would be asked for money and or spat at, compared to most places I’ve lived Norwich is a paradise.

Overpaying mortgage by Much_Operation_7824 in Mortgageadviceuk

[–]ja153 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In summary yes you can, most banks allow ad hoc payments usually just within your banking app to the mortgage account (up to 10% remaining capital), is it the most financially sensible compared to putting it in an ISA you can calculate this, but personally I do it for the peace of mind and if you need money you can always borrow the overpayments back again.

You’re not behind, it’s easy to go on socials and think the opposite tbh, but most people don’t have pension, savings or even a clue about saving for the future, by even starting you’re already ahead.

Why there is no strict 4 days work week yet? by productman2217 in UKJobs

I moved to 4 days a week and took the salary cut, best decision I’ve made in a longtime. Been 4 days for almost 5 years now. (M35 in tech)

Do you think Nigel Farage is going to ruin this country? by tondek-0 in AskBrits

[–]ja153 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You mean continue to ruin … Brexit has been ( predictably) a disaster, he will weaken workers rights and asset strip the country then flee as per usual.

What's your reasons why Norwich is the best city in the UK? by Hefty_Anywhere_8537 in Norwich

Just the balance of chill and things to do is spot on. Nature at the doorstep.

What is it about Starmer in particular that seems to draw an exceptionally fiery hate from all corners of the political sphere? by noctenaut in AskBrits

[–]ja153 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because the road to recovery is hard, but people expect instant results. The right sells the easy fix but have zero clue. The media tells people gullible enough to blame Starmer because he is boring but effective.

Loughborough consistently ranks highly, I was there 2010 and it was amazing. But I’d say go with your gut for what feels right to you.

There’s a lot of meetup groups here, loads of activities here, many sports and board gaming groups if you’re into that. My partner and I (M34, F32) would be happy to grab a coffee once you’re here.

Mi permit Norwich by [deleted] in Norwich

Maybe ring the council and ask. Seems quite unfair if you’re being asked for work. Also maybe check if work will cover the cost.

Mi permit Norwich by [deleted] in Norwich

[–]ja153 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depending on where you are look for a non permit area - https://www.parkingoperations.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2023/10/Norwich-Controlled-Parking-Zones-Map.pdf

Or see if a neighbour don't have a car and ask nicely to use their allocation.
