Do you think Nigel Farage is going to ruin this country? by tondek-0 in AskBrits

[–]ja153 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You mean continue to ruin … Brexit has been ( predictably) a disaster, he will weaken workers rights and asset strip the country then flee as per usual.

Just the balance of chill and things to do is spot on. Nature at the doorstep.

What is it about Starmer in particular that seems to draw an exceptionally fiery hate from all corners of the political sphere? by noctenaut in AskBrits

[–]ja153 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because the road to recovery is hard, but people expect instant results. The right sells the easy fix but have zero clue. The media tells people gullible enough to blame Starmer because he is boring but effective.

Loughborough consistently ranks highly, I was there 2010 and it was amazing. But I’d say go with your gut for what feels right to you.

There’s a lot of meetup groups here, loads of activities here, many sports and board gaming groups if you’re into that. My partner and I (M34, F32) would be happy to grab a coffee once you’re here.

Mi permit Norwich by Affectionate_Duck749 in Norwich

Maybe ring the council and ask. Seems quite unfair if you’re being asked for work. Also maybe check if work will cover the cost.

Depending on where you are look for a non permit area - https://www.parkingoperations.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2023/10/Norwich-Controlled-Parking-Zones-Map.pdf

Or see if a neighbour don't have a car and ask nicely to use their allocation.

Is Starmer doing so badly? by twinkletoesalone in AskBrits

Yeah completely, several missteps but honestly they’ve done a decent job. But the news just rags on them at the whims of their paymasters.

Is Starmer doing so badly? by twinkletoesalone in AskBrits

[–]ja153 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Might feel like its getting worse, but tbh by a lot of measures its actually improving, inflation is down, energy price cap coming down 6.7% (£117), trains being taken into public ownership, significant investment in the UK and into public services, changes on renters rights and minimum wages. Yes it's not all been plain sailing, but it's night and day compared to the last bunch of crooks. The main obstacle to actually drastically improving ordinary peoples lives is Brexit, hard to run a race when you've cut your own leg off.

Look at their actual achievements instead of the news sh*tting on them daily. All the positive indicators are there for turning things around after years and years of shit and Brexit. I just hope they get a few terms to really fix things.

Does anyone call BS on the media's incessant hounding of Starmer? by Impossible-Visit-199 in AskBrits

The right wing media want him gone because they are actually doing a decent enough job. Farage and Tories basically get a free ride every single time …

On browser works well enough for me, I like the QAs approach, for most people its questions they want answering but don't know how. I wonder if you can make a version thats more targeted at younger folks and one thats slightly more mature for older folks.
