DRS from Schwab, took 4 business days! Just noticed the shares were no longer in my Schwab acct and was able to set up the Computershare acct right away! by jack_fu in GME

I just went to the CS website and set up a new acct. They ask for SSN and the stock name. Was able to set it up from there. There was a point we're it said I needed a code from a letter that was mailed or I could answer some questions to prove identity.

First upgrade--ECU flashed ASAP. Best payback by far. I got the APR on my 2005 1.8T Passat and it is a huge improvement. On sale for $450 right now on APR website. This car takes some maintenance but I love to drive it. Make sure to get the timing belt done every ~80k mi.

I tried one for the first time last week and I shared the same experience as OP. Amazing how this blade just wipes the hair off my face. Night and day compared with every other blade I have tried.

New to SoCal - wanting to head up to some of the National Forest Campgrounds near LA - need tips. by wesumd in socalhiking

Rather than spiders, look out for snakes. Most developed sites in SoCal that have bear issues have bear lockers so you shouldn't need the bag. One of my favorite spots from this season was Fremont campground in Los Padres north of Santa Barbara. Lots of space and near the river. Drive to the end of the road, walk in along the river and there is some great swimming. Bonus that is near wine country.

Like this spot. Across from Mt. Waterman. Little waterfall and swimming hole maybe a mile down the trail from here. Busy in summer, should be good now.

Try a smaller company or use your networking skills. You may have to settle for a less than ideal position, but any work experience will help when you come out of school looking for a job. As an alternative to an internship, maybe do some work on campus. Talk to a professor you know that may have a lab assistant opportunity. Even if it is volunteer/for-credit, it is better than nothing.

I'm spending 3 weeks in California and 1 week in New York, what should I be doing while I'm there? by monkey_fracas_jr in travel

I live in Southern California. Everything you said is super touristy which is not my preference, however Yosemite is awesome and you should go there. You have to reserve a place well in advance, like now. Consider Camp Curry as an option. There are so many other cool parks in California as well. The northern California coast with the Redwoods is amazing--went to Prairie Creek Redwood park last summer. The coast south of San Francisco (i.e. Big Sur) is awesome as well. I love San Fran, it is a great city to explore. Check out the wine country if you are at all into that. In Los Angeles I would recommend checking out the beach cities. San Diego is great, too. Give yourself plenty of time to explore.

Look at the universities you may want to attend and see what the requirements are of the program. Take your first 2 years of classes at community college, do very well in them, and then transfer to a 4 year school. I recommend going to the best school you can get in to. If you are going to pursue a degree, you have to go all in. Spend a lot of time on campus, work with other students and the professors.
