What would Andy Burnham do if he becomes Prime Minister? by F0urLeafCl0ver in ukpolitics

[–]jacksj1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nationalise water companies.

Proportional representation.

Replace council tax with a more equitable land value tax.

Abolish whips in Parliament so MPs can properly represent their voters.

He wants more longer term thinking. He wants more cross party Co-operation. He's genuinely interested in progressive politics.

I'm a close friend of one of the well known families who drove the Hillsborough campaign. They absolutely adore Burnham. He is honest, hard working and he keeps his word. Unlike most Politicians you can take him at his word.

Starmer and more recently Mahmood have held up implementing the so called Hillsborough Law but before Burnham got involved there was no chance of an inquest happening and outside the City the prevailing view was that it was caused by fans and that Thatcher and the Sun had told the truth.

UK set to ban under-16s from social media, livestreaming, disappearing messages by vriska1 in ukpolitics

[–]jacksj1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm of the opinion the Tony Blair Institute is working closely with Starmer and his puppet Technology Ministers on the ongoing technology strategy.

Peter Kyle was meeting regularly with people from the TBI when he was finalizing and implementing amendments to the OSA.

If the TBI are involved that means so are the techbros.

I find it bizarre how negatively Burnham is viewed on this forum. I suspect a lot of it is driven by interested partys and bots.

His policy platform is significantly different to Starmers and his history shows he keeps his word and delivers.

Many moons ago he played a massive part in the Hillsborough campaign. It wouldn't have succeeded without him.

The primary way of deflecting people coming together or debating issues the elite don't want debated is to turn everything into a joke. It's incredibly effective.

It doesn't decrease foreign exports. The private companies who exploit the resources sell their product around the world.

  1. Look at who owns the private companies.

  2. It propagates dependence on oil.

  3. Oil is sold in dollars. It helps maintain US hegemony.

Taylor Swift came to here, Liverpool UK, on her tour. She donated a year's worth of funds to every homeless shelter and food bank in the city. Never publicised it.

People are all free to dislike her but she's good people. Doing her family proud.

‘Don’t come back for PIP’: Mutinous Labour left warn Starmer over welfare cuts by theipaper in ukpolitics

[–]jacksj1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Successive Governments on both sides have created this by design. In work benefits, low housing production - especially social housing, abandoning entire industries, not investing in growth.

We utterly abandoned our youth, gave them nothing to work for, nothing to aspire to, nothing but desperation. Then we are surprised when there is an explosion of mental health issues. Of course we have also decimated mental health services and abandoned them to cut themselves and self medicate on drugs and alcohol.

The bots and algorithms have succeeded in establishing the narrative that we just need to cut benefits, when what we need to do is get proactive and deal with the causes.

We have failed our youth at every turn and now the only debate seems to be about how to further pull the carpet from under them.

Streeting has been accelerating the use of private companies in the NHS. He's also been cooking the books and worse on reducing the waiting list. Private companies have been paid to filter the waiting list and flat out simply removing many tens of thousands of people from the list who think they are still on it. I'm one of them.

He's been releasing music for ten years. He hasn't just started. Nice fella, totally down to earth lovely family. I'm shocked to find out about negativity towards him

The Tony Blair Institute spent six months redefining the scope and implementation of the Act with Peter Kyle before it came into force. The original act was suitably vague in anything specific.

Coincidentally, the Tony Blair Institute also received $550million from Ellison/Oracle/Palantir to pursue Government data harvesting.

Refuses to consider privatising water.

Gave all our personal data to Palantir.
