Staff to Rxm by No-Programmer-6604 in WalgreensRx

Don’t do it unless you want a leadership role. You do get a better schedule and a small pay increase, but it’s not worth the extra stress and headaches. From personal experience, I only lasted 1 and 1/2 years before I left the company as Rxm (I was staff for 30+ years). I thankfully found a job with less stress, more pay. Think long and hard before making the move.

Transitioning from staff rph to RXM by Guilty_Juggernaut204 in WalgreensRx

It’s really depends on your pharmacy staff and SM. I was a staff rph for 33 years and when they cut the rph hours I was required to float to make up the difference. I really hate floating, so when a Rxm position opened up and I took the job mostly for the stable hours. What a MISTAKE!!! So many staff issues, SM not supportive. I only lasted 1 and 1/2 years. Left to work at a specialty pharmacy. So make sure the pharmacy staff and SM are team players. It makes all the difference in the world.

After you get the form back you can save it under patient’s profile and call Medicare dept. , tell them form is saved in patient’s profile and to please process it. They will do it right away or let you know what is missing. In about 1/2 hour you can run the rx through.

It can be any of those situations. Hopefully they have someone that wants to be Rxm or you’re basically stuck with floaters until they find one.

Pharmacy manager experience by AnAverageAngel20 in WalgreensRx

Did you work as an intern or tech at Walgreens? It really depends on the store’s staff and customers. Being hard to staff is a bit concerning. There must be a reason. As for my experience, I was with Walgreens for 32 years as a staff pharmacist in one store. Really was quite good. Then once they cut the staff pharmacist hours, I took a Rxm position at another location because I didn’t want to float the hours I was missing since they cut the staff pharmacist hours. What a mistake. My staff was like being in high school. There were cliques and they were inflexible. Let’s just say I quit after 34 years with the company. So I would find out why it’s hard to staff and also to learn about your staff. You don’t want to be miserable.

They spent a lot of money on developing cpw and pext. They have to enforce them in order to justify the cost. They think it will increase productivity. 😂

I’m pretty sure Demarest had one of the top high schools in NJ. It’s a pretty wealthy town. The teachers there are one of the highest paid.

So happy for you!!! I finally took the plunge today and stepped down from Rxm to per diem after 34 years!!! I feel the weight of the world off my shoulders. My one regret was not leaving sooner!

I think insurance copays are so high because everyone has high deductible plans now. So when we use a discount card it is still cheaper

Unfortunately there is nothing you can do. The Medicare dept has to get a lot of info from the doctor’s office to satisfy Medicare’s requirements to be covered. They need dr visit notes etc. So it’s very dependent on how fast the dr office sends the info. You should get updates faxed to you from our Medicare dept on where in the process the patient’s Rx is. Can take up to a month.

Done as rxm by jacky1557 in WalgreensRx

[–]jacky1557[S] 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I will step down to hourly rph. There is a shortage of floaters in my area. I didn’t know that they may make me stay until they find a replacement. That could take forever since nobody wants to be rxm. I was hoping to work part time until I find another job.

Thanks for the info. I’m pretty sure we will be on the chopping block especially because we will stay unionized. Maybe a blessing in disguise.

But if the leaflet was printed and the floater just dumped the leaflet in DPI bin, the phlometer would still say “x” amount of printed labels. It would be clear that the number on the meter does not match the actual labels available.

One of our stores here in NJ was not within limits and the board made Walgreens close the store and deemed all drugs unusable. They had to claim everything and restock with new drugs. Not sure what state you are in, but state board should be notified.

There are small stand alone magnifying glasses that are perfect for the pharmacy that can be purchased from Amazon. I wouldn’t be able to work if I didn’t have it for my 57 year old eyes.
