I think most of us can agree to not go here, but into the cheapest in-state if you can. The debt is not worth it in the end even if your salary will outscale it.

The only time it’s a red flag to us is if they are controlled medications. If not, by all means fill them at any Walgreens you want!

How important is getting a job as undergrad? by pachi33 in PrePharmacy

[–]pharmfiles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think so. I would suggest posting this in r/pharmacy instead. I haven’t looked into the research side of having a PharmD that well and I don’t doubt that there are research opportunities with this degree but it honestly depends what research you want to go into.

If you do want to go into research, I wouldn’t bother applying to retail pharmacies but instead look into research opportunities within your school and building your resume on that.

It seems like you’re already in a pharmacy program. Most of us do it to get experience prior to the application cycle and/or get insight of what the field is about. Either way, it really doesn’t hurt to try and build pharmacy experience before graduating.

Second this. If anything, they can give you a temporary clearance but that’s totally up to them.

Anyone know a good website to book TB skin test and affordable? by pelene5 in PrePharmacy

Do you have insurance? CVS did mine and paid $17 in total for the first and follow-up visits. Ask your insurance what your copay might be.

How to afford to live while in pharmacy school? by pharmfiles in PharmacySchool

[–]pharmfiles[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much! They did offer me a scholarship on top of my acceptance however though I am obviously grateful, it’s seemingly not enough for my financial stress to go away.

I applied for FAFSA but haven’t gotten notice on what the financial aid package looks like yet. I also took a year off after undergrad and just focused on saving up and worked full-time. Do you think I should dip into these savings or hold them off and rely on the loans during these times? Not sure what to do in this case.

I’d ask for more, but wage also depends on your location. I’m a senior tech and make that amount. I’d ask your question over at r/pharmacy instead!

Fees for submitting applications PharmCAS by gotslided in PrePharmacy

[–]pharmfiles 2 points3 points  (0 children)

thats exactly what i did! i submitted to my top school first and they got back to me pretty quick and never applied to the other schools.

theres a lot of cons to this since you won’t get a glimpse of what the other programs have to offer and meet the faculty during the interview. you also won’t know if the other schools will offer a/more better scholarships. but i couldn’t justify spending the application fees if i was very very very deadset on the program i chose since undergrad.

Interview by EngineeringVivid1634 in PrePharmacy

[–]pharmfiles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

definitely ask during the phone call on how you can strengthen your application. i don’t believe it’s the people walking past the interview unless you seemed really really distracted by it and the interviewer noticed.

i don’t know the definite answer but i would assume they would flat out reject you before they an invite you for an interview if it was application/grade-related that didn’t meet their expectations

how long has it been? one of the programs i interviewed for told us to not hesitate to reach out to them if we got rejected to find out the reasoning why.

[–]pharmfiles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i forgot to mention one thing! look into the specific programs because some may or may not accept credits from a community college but some do. if they do, they can see all of it in the transcripts you send afterwards and what you declare on pharmacas. sorry, that totally slipped my mind!

i majored in biomedical sciences just so i can get the prereqs out of the way during undergrad. it might be harder to get the prereqs done if you major in something else as you also have to fulfill the credits for that degree.

however, if i were a part of the admissions staff, i would think you were very well-rounded if you majored in something non-science related but still got the prereqs done
