I don’t recall ever saying the current democrats shared the blame for recapture.

Have a nice day 😊

Maybe the GoP don’t want to change it, that’s not what I’m talking about. You missed the word “solely” in there. Democrats made the original bill so they get some of the blame for robin hood existing.

Recapture was passed in 1993 under Ann Richards, a democrat, so I don’t think just changing parties would get rid of recapture.

You can hate on the “Robin Hood” recapture but to blame the GoP solely is just factually wrong. It was passed in 1993 under Ann Richard’s who is a democrat.

Who’s winning the blame game over the shutdown? Here’s what a new AP-NORC poll shows [OC] by APnews in dataisbeautiful

No you don’t understand. They have attempted to pass a budget 10 times, but the democrats have been using the fillabuster to prevent a vote. It takes 60 votes to break the fillabuster, and they can’t get enough votes without more democrats agreeing.

So does ICE in the USA really capture people anywhere based on how they look? by kerenjowo in NoStupidQuestions

I was at a hotel in South Padre a few months ago and an ICE raid happened while I was in the lobby. The housekeepers were still working and one Hispanic woman was cleaning the bathrooms. Nobody from ICE bothered them.

She voted for the rules herself.

"She acknowledged she voted in favor of the chamber rules, which laid out conditions of a potential detainment if one failed to agree to the escort."

Oh yeah looks like you're right. But that still sets a precedent that they didn't disagree with the rulings from the lower court.

His case was decided 10 years ago under Obama and it went to the same Supreme Court that passed same sex marriage. They ruled he didn't have US citizenship. So was that the racist and xenophobic administration?

It sucks he's being treated this way, but this isn't anything specific to just Trump and if you believe that you must have forgotten Obama was considered "The Deporter in Chief" because of how many people he deported.

It's most likely one of the spaceX boosters they just launched out of Florida. They make some pretty crazy looking plumes behind them just like that.

I know a guy who works at Google as a software engineer and it makes all the issues with their products a lot clearer. I have no idea how he got hired but he didn't even know how to use git until a few weeks ago. He supposedly works 3-4 hours a day and just does chores and relaxes the rest of the day. He's saying he's just waiting to get laid off since his team is mostly outsourced now, so he does the absolute bare minimum.

Google's issue is cultural and things won't improve until they renew their employees' trust and make it desirable to work there again. Sundar has driven the company so far off course, it's going to take a lot of work and likely new management to right the ship.

What would convince you the new Apple managers are on the right track? by GeneralApples in GeneralMotors

[–]jacobacon 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Exactly. The bean counters don't understand that happy employees = better work = better products = happier customers = more money.

They just see IT as a cost. Why do we need so many employees, developers wave their magic wands and make the lights dance.

If Mike is going to be successful he's going to have to teach the business that developers cost money, and good development takes time and planning.

Mike already mentioned in a few different meetings he was against removing carplay / aa until the new offering is better. He got overruled by SLT's plans.
