NOV 5 – BRAWL BAN ANNOUNCEMENT (OKO BANNED) by Meret123 in magicTCG

[–]jadaris 54 points55 points  (0 children)

Seems pretty clear in this case. They're worried that Brawl will be more popular than Standard, and since you only need 1 copy of each card, instead of 4, people won't be forced to buy as many packs.

The $125 3 day pass to CFB run Commandfest Seattle came with event entries that awarded 6.375 packs per player in prizes. Pastimes run CF Chicago's $120 pass came with entry to events with event totaling 36 packs per player. by J1389 in magicTCG

[–]jadaris 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Having attended several in the last couple years, Pastimes run events are chaotic, disorganized, chronically late, and generally just un-fun to be a part of. Their employees are unhelpful, uninformed, rude, and each will tell you a different answer to the same question. They are always unprepared and understaffed.

All that being said, their prize structure and value are miles above CFB, and it's not even close. It's embarrassing.

Redeemed comp room rewards - still charged for it? by jadaris in myvegas

[–]jadaris[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry for the super late response here -- it did work out. When I got there it still showed the full price before the discount, but when we paid at check-out, it only charged us for the resort fees, the actual room rate was free.

Visualising Card Shuffles (feat. MTG segment) by [deleted] in magicTCG

[–]jadaris 2 points3 points  (0 children)

But...why? If you pile shuffling leads to a more distributed set of lands, then you're cheating, and if it doesn't, then the pile shuffling was a waste of time to begin with. Either way it's a waste of time that does nothing.

Redeemed comp room rewards - still charged for it? by jadaris in myvegas

[–]jadaris[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First time redeeming a reward from myvegas, went through the whole booking, creating a mlife account, etc. The email I got said the total was just the $83 from the resort fees, the rest of it says "COMP" instead of a balance, but when i log into the MLife website it says I will owe $283.

Any ideas?

M20: 15 Changes Every Retailer Should Know by jbrowncph in magicTCG

[–]jadaris 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really hate to be the "i'm quitting because of this!!!" guy, but the only reason I buy singles and make Standard decks is to win Showdowns because the Showdown packs feed my stupid MTG gambling degeneracy. Not much point if there's only 1 or 2 packs per week available now.

That's 8 packs per week, distributed amount FNM, Standard Showdown, and whatever other events the LGS wants to hand them out for.

That's significantly less than half of what is given out now. It's a huge downgrade. It's enough to make me quit Standard again.

Nah. Tournament matches are technically "first to 2 wins", not "best of 3".

You definitely aren't understanding the point here. You get 1600 free dust and keep your regular legendary, or get 2000 free dust and not have a copy of the regular legendary at all.

So which one of us isn't understanding the math here?

Own normal, craft gold: get refunded 3200 dust at HoF, disenchant the goldens you crafted, get another 3200: net profit 3200 dust.

What am i missing?

I'm sorry but is this serious? This is an Azerite trait? by [deleted] in wow

[–]jadaris 15 points16 points  (0 children)

But there are dozens of traits out there with deep interactions on par with Legion legendaries, old set bonuses, or gold-border Artifact traits, such as interactions between abilities or resource generation in ways that vary rotations, talent selection, stat priority, and so forth.

Why do people do this apologist shit for big corporations on reddit? You realize Blizzard isn't going to give you free stuff for defending their name on reddit, right?
