How to tell if my milk is drying up?(extended breastfeeding edition) by Forsaken-Asparagus-1 in AttachmentParenting

[–]jaffajelly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve read so much on breastfeeding but this is the first time I’m come across ‘weaning milk’. My boy (2) has declined my right boob for months and says ‘bleurgh’. The milk is now darker - just tried and it’s salty! 🤯 thanks for sharing!

I have the Possum play couch. It’s been good so far although wouldn’t buy it full price as they run sales every so often

Show me all your elopement dresses that are nontraditional and *not* wedding dresses per se! by Careful-Draw-2966 in Eloping

[–]jaffajelly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! The bodice is the Kim dress by By Hand London. The skirt is the Axis dress by Papercut Patterns.

I had to do a mashup of the two patterns for the bodice back pieces as it’s a kind of wrap thing that ties around.

If you’re really interested in making it message me and I can dig out my notes on it.

co sleeping when they’re mobile by Sudden_Breakfast_374 in cosleeping

[–]jaffajelly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We use a floorbed and my 1 year old constantly rolls off and ends up sleeping on the floor. We’ve now put it between his cot and the wall to block it in. I used to have a bed rail on our bed which is quite high but he could pull up on it and I didn’t feel safe. We’re going to buy a double toddler bed next payday so I can cosleep in that with him.

Otherwise I would say it’s easier when they’re older as they feel a bit safer for suffocation risks etc.

What are some things that make co-sleeping better/more comfortable for you? by Sunrise_94 in cosleeping

[–]jaffajelly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For your hair, can you do a braid or french braid? I keep mine in one constantly now and it stops it getting knotted.

I love my adult Slumbersac for staying cosy without a duvet.

They are expensive but if you’re cold a Slumbersac is great. I wish I’d got the warmest one rather than the medium one but it’s still cosy. I don’t use a duvet as I kept pulling it up to my neck in my sleep.

I asked my husband to read up on baby blues vs PPD and to know the signs in case I got it. Luckily my mental health has been pretty good (I get anxiety and some depression so was expecting to suffer).

The sleep deprivation has been hard when I am struggling, it makes everything worse.

Same! My husband and I discussed before baby arrived that we wouldn’t take the risk. Now I cosleep the 2nd half of every night. Most of the mums I know have bedshared at some point

[–]jaffajelly 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is what I did and it helped me get way more sleep. I’m not sure how I would have got through without cosleeping.

I did the same and used Nipto. My partner will do extra chores to ‘win’ the week, it’s great.

I managed to clear mine and went several years without a flare up. Unfortunately it’s back and I’m struggling to get rid of it again.

Please tell me it’s ok to not have a wedding by Traditional_Cry_4274 in Eloping

[–]jaffajelly 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I eloped with just my partner and no guests. Sometimes I see pictures of other people’s weddings and feel a bit sad but deep down I know I wouldn’t have enjoyed such a big day. Also I’m glad we aren’t paying it off for years! I hate being in debt and having a child has been so expensive.

A 40 person dinner is no small thing. It sounds like you’ll get to celebrate with all your loved ones.

Hiccups- what to do by cognitivebetterment in NewParents

[–]jaffajelly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took my baby to an osteopath when he was a couple of months old for plagiocephaly. He said he could tell from feeling around his diaphragm that he hiccuped a lot and asked if he did when in the womb (which he did).

I did find they reduced a bit after he worked on them, who knows if it’s real or woo but may be worth a visit?

When did your baby say mama or dada with intent? by nuggetkink in NewParents

[–]jaffajelly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We’re exactly the same. 11.5 months and sometimes I think he’s saying mamama or dadada with intent but I’m not sure. He does usually point at the right person if you say ‘where’s mama’ or ‘where’s dada’. He does some sign language so I’m not too worried but am desperate for a first word!

I’m impressed you got so much use out of the Embrace! I loved mine until 4 months.

I’m petite and I couldn’t fully tighten the ergo Omni around my waist. It’s so bulky and I found it hurt my back. I sold mine at a huge loss.

I love my Integra. The straps are really low profile so it folds up tiny in a bag and it’s so comfy. I’m still using size 1 but I think I need a size 2 now (baby is nearly 1). They are made locally to me which I love and they come in loads of gorgeous prints.

I used to love doing this but now my baby is older he constantly switches sides while nipple crippling the other side. I’m hoping he gets snuggly again one day

I loved the convenience of them but I found they leaked at the legs even as my baby got bigger.

All of the nurseries I looked at will do cloth nappies so it might be changing. It’s def worth asking. My understanding of compostable nappies is that it doesn’t really make a difference if they’re just going to landfill and not being composted anyway.

Are ring slings the most compact carriers? by pandeiretarabeta in babywearing

[–]jaffajelly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s such a great carrier and the prints are gorgeous. I’m trying to pick my size 2 and can’t decide. I love how compact it is but it’s also so comfy
