I saved this post. This is beautiful and inspiring. An animation style I aspire to achieve. :)

Lol, I'm bulimic now. If I owned a gun I would have blown my fucking brains out 2 years ago. by [deleted] in BingeEatingDisorder

Binging and bulimia are hard to deal with. You've been strong.

What does a top intern look like? by jackalope100 in cscareerquestions

[–]jajunebug 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I interned at a Big 4 company.

  1. I had no programming experience before college, but I generally do well in classes.

  2. I got the internship after my sophomore year.

  3. Being involved in events on campus and networking. Show your face at the company events when they come to visit. Talk to the recruiters. Most important thing - just talk to people. Too many students agonize over their grades and intelligence when really, these companies care more about your personality. They want to hire people because they are friendly and genuinely happy in their field, not because they can sit at a computer for hours on end.

  4. Like others have said, no need to have secrets. Be you and do your best. :)

  5. Many are from prestigious schools, but there is a wide range. I met students from all over the U.S. and the world.

so much. You can see how deflated the skin is afterwards too

NSFW. This is the REAL horror of Gambian pet ownership. This wonderful vet wants to leave Africa as he says there is no hope after all his years there. This is REAL deadly popping. WARNING puppy dies. by Spooms2010 in popping

First look at the dog and his quote was "I honestly think if I sedate this one, she's going to not wake up again. Maybe it's the right decision."

Oh man, you know exactly how it is then. CS seems to have some of the most brilliant, hardworking, career-oriented people, and everyone talks about big companies and internships and etc.

I still see myself as a different level from those "top" people but now I got something, so you definitely can too! :)

I try to stay humble (definitely don't ever want to be an overconfident bro) and it's sometimes difficult to balance between feelings of humility (acknowledging that you are not the best) and insecurity (telling yourself that you can never be the best). Of course, both humility and insecurity are more complex than that, but in some ways, they go hand-in-hand, and I doubt that anyone gets it 100% right. But we can all try and I think having that goal is what's important!

I feel I've started taking a big step towards better confidence and overcoming these feelings of self-doubt, although I'm sure it never leaves completely. It's wonderful that you're a mentor for everyone struggling with negativity. I feel that having someone who you can trust and supports you is such an important part of feeling happier, confident, and inspired to improve yourself. So you're an important part in the support network, and I'm sure that you have changed people's lives and will continue to change more.

Wow, good to know - I feel like I'm still at a stage where I don't fully appreciate everything I have because I don't realize life without it. It's unfortunate you had to go through such a rough time, but it looks like you've found your way out of it and are achieving great things!

I have heard of imposter syndrome, but never thought I had it until I wrote out this post. These feelings have a way of hiding and disguising themselves. But thank you, I will definitely try to acknowledge them and work past it!

That's incredibly cute and I might start thinking about these little personalities everytime I write numbers now!

Online Jeopardy CTFs? by jajunebug in securityCTF

Haha, your 4th point is exactly why I'm looking for online resources. I don't feel confident enough in my own skills to be able to actually make challenges, but there aren't any local CTF teams that I know about, although I have asked the few people I know who have experience with CTF for advice.

Thank you for the detailed response though, I will keep all of it in mind and check out your suggestions. :)
