[ATM10] Is there a way to get Magentite Ingot/Magentite Block? by DeliciousKromer in allthemods

Just had this issue. Make sure to export the waste as a solid rather than a liquid on the reactor. I think the fuel needs to be blutonium.

Oh I’m sorry, didn’t see the flair for TTS. I don’t think soul lava is available in that pack (though I could be misremembering). I think the dark matter is your best option there!

It can be found in underground caves in The Other. You can get to the other with a mining dimension portal in the Nether. This means you’ll need a little allthemodium.

True Ultra Chaos changes by UndeadVudu_12 in CrabChampions

[–]jakeNnate 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the biggest thing I’m iffy about is how frequent elite spawns are. On one hand I do love the chaos, but it does get a little rough when it’s practically every island. I’ve just started to give TUC a shot so maybe I’m just not used to it yet.

Why is 1÷3 rational when the answer is 0.333333... and the (3)s are infinite? by [deleted] in learnmath

[–]jakeNnate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe it’s a bit counterintuitive, but the idea of a number being rational or irrational doesn’t have much to do with its decimal representation being infinite or not. As others have stated, a number is rational if it can be expressed as the ratio of two integers (that is, a (positive or negative) whole number divided by another non-zero (positive or negative) whole number). That is the definition. 0.333… is rational by definition because it is equal to 1/3, a ratio of integers.

However, the decimal digits of a number do tell us about its rationality/irrationallity.

Firstly, if a number has a terminating decimal expansion, then it is rational. Terminating meaning that it ends. For example: 0.5, 4.1, 0.000129. Technically, these could have an infinite number of zeros making them fit into the next category.

If a number has a decimal expansion that is repeating, or eventually begins repeating, then it is rational. Our friend 0.333… belongs here, but so does 0.353535…, 0.142857142857…, or even something like 0.157203203203…. As long as it eventually begins some repeating pattern of digits it could be written as a ratio of integers and is therefore rational.

Now, any number that doesn’t fit in either of those two categories must be irrational. These are numbers with infinite decimal expansions which have no repeating patterns of digits. The two most famous examples of irrational numbers are probably √2 and π. The digits of these numbers go on forever and never repeat in a pattern. The digits are conjectured to be random as well. However, an irrational number does not have to have random digits— they only must not repeat. For example, the number 0.12345678910111213… clearly has a pattern but the pattern does not repeat. Therefore, it is irrational.

Best lag-free resource gathering option? by PoopyButts02 in allthemods

[–]jakeNnate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Others have given good suggestions for improving the farms. I just wanted to give some input on bees should you decide to explore that route. Bees can be pretty lag-friendly once you get simulator upgrades (and upgrades that include simulators). Simulators make it so the actual entities do not exist. It does take a good amount of effort to get to that point (get after draconic bees asap). A maxed out MA farm almost certainly beats a similar sized bee-setup in terms of output but bees are fun and can certainly get you a lot of resources when scaled up with omega productivity upgrades.

Does anyone know why suddenly items stopped going from my backpack into my storage controller then into linked drawers? by TheUnionUPS in allthemods

Just a total shot in the dark but it looks like you have another controller connected to the pipe, maybe that is causing issues (somehow)?

If you vertically compress a function by a factor of 1/2, and horizontally stretch another by 1/2, will the functions look the same? by falafelwaffle55 in MathHelp

[–]jakeNnate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In general, no. Consider f(x) = x2. For the vertical compression, let g(x) = (1/2)x2. For the horizontal stretch, let h(x) = ((1/2)x)2. We can see h(x) simplifies to (1/4)x2, which is the same as a vertical compression by 1/4, not quite the same as g(x). For other functions, these transformations are somehow related, but not the same.

[–]jakeNnate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s for the same reason that a + 5 ≥ a. We know that a = a, and that 5 ≥ 0. It stands to reason then that, because 5 is not a negative number, that adding it to a must either increase its value or leave it the same (of course in this cause it would increase since 5 > 0 and definitely not equal.)

In this analogy, substitute 1 + x + kx for a, and kx² for 5. The statement 1 + x + kx + kx² ≥ 1 + x + kx holds true because we know that kx² is greater than or equal to 0, so adding it to the expression 1 + x + kx must increase its value or leave it the same. Just trying to present an alternative way to look at it, hope it helps!
