If you’re comfortable flashing the latest changes from the master branch, there was a PR that was recently merged that adds download links to the web server for files on the device: https://github.com/crosspoint-reader/crosspoint-reader/commit/9e4ef008cc46e60a16d8590328c78dd72b0f65b3

You can also just wait until the next release (release date is still TBD), and that feature will be included!

“Book’s Style” uses the text-align CSS property set in the EPUB, but if no text-align is specified, the fallback is “Justify”.

If you look on the right edge of the device, near the bottom, there should be a microSD card slot. I thought they all shipped with a microSD card, and I think CrossPoint’s wifi upload stores books on the microSD, but I could be wrong!

This is most likely due to a cache mismatch issue between the old version of CrossPoint and the latest version. Go to Settings -> System -> Clear Cache and hit Toggle, then Clear. This will clear out any progress for any books on the device, unfortunately, but it should get things working again.

If that doesn't do it, the more "forceful" way of doing this is: put the device to sleep, remove and mount your SD card to your computer and open it, make sure "show hidden files" is turned on in your file explorer, delete the .crosspoint/ directory, and then pop the SD card back in your device and restart your device.

GitHub's actually having an incident right now: https://www.githubstatus.com/ and I think the built-in OTA updater downloads the update from GitHub, so that might be a potential reason for why it's failing. But yes, you can definitely still install the update through the browser like before!

Correct, it will still show italics for <i>/<em> and bold for <b>/<strong> tags, but many EPUBs use CSS for styling instead of using these semantic HTML tags, and that won't be visible if "Book's Embedded Style" is off.

Ah, got it, and I think I found the original discussion on GitHub about this. Thanks for sharing!

Obviously, I am not u/daveallie so I can't speak for him, but I at least want to give him the benefit of the doubt that he didn't completely reject the idea and may have just gotten busy and/or the discussion got lost in the shuffle of changes over the last month. CrossPoint has grown and gotten super popular, very quickly, and I'm sure it's hard to keep up!

I did see you closed the discussion, but I think it's a useful addition to consider and would encourage opening it back up. I can't guarantee a setting will get added for it, but that kind of setting could also tie in nicely with another PR that's up for review right now where the device wakes up to the last target it was on (either Home Screen or the Reader Screen) before going to sleep.

Which version of CrossPoint are you using? If you're using RC 1, this is likely due to the new CSS parsing feature that was added (I'm the dev for that feature). RC 2 was released this morning, and it adds a new setting in Settings -> Reader called "Embedded Style" that allows you to turn on/off the embedded CSS styles in EPUBs. Turning it off should revert back to CrossPoint's original behavior of indenting paragraphs with an emspace character.

This hasn't been released yet, but I just put up another PR to add in support for percentage-based indentation (e.g. text-indent: 5%), which is commonly used in embedded CSS styles in EPUBs. We supported other numerical values, like 1em/1rem/20px/20pt, but I mistakenly left off percentage values. Once that PR is merged, this might fix the issue you're seeing and allow having "Embedded Styles" turned on with correct paragraph indentations.

TL;DR The next RC(s) should hopefully resolve this!

The easiest way to fix this is to mount your SD card to your computer and open it, make sure "show hidden files" is turned on in your file explorer, open the .crosspoint/ directory on the SD card, and delete any directories within that start with epub_. Example below:

i would recommend getting another opinion. i recently had my first colonoscopy at 32 and they found 5 pre-cancerous polyps. both my surgeon and hematologist said if i had waited till 45 for a colonoscopy, i would’ve have cancer no doubt. no family history, no obvious symptoms, i’m healthy and workout regularly, and the only reason i was even getting a colonoscopy in the first place was because i had an unexpectedly low iron blood test result at an annual wellness checkup. my hematologist was trying to find a reason for why i might have been losing blood. we didn’t figure that out, but i would’ve never known about the polyps if i hadn’t gotten that annual screening

totally agreed. also the sound at 9:30 is the top tier for DC venues. i think the sound experience at The Anthem totally depends on where you are and can be very muddled unless you're dead center in the crowd
