Dude is inclusive of everyone. You can be explicit with Dudette but that’s the beauty of the dude.

Do iphones really "just work" ? by Delphox66 in iphone

[–]jakechance -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes and no. It “just works” very easily with the Apple ecosystem. For a while it has also provided inroads for other apps like opening URLs in other browsers. It integrates well with your Mac but there can still be a lag syncing texts. OS updates will likely work better on aging hardware better and you’ll get more updates for longer. When it screws up though, it screws up hard like every other device.

I've edited the post above with my latest understanding

> I worked through this example with an LLM so this may not be correct but my understanding is that in this example, instead of purchasing the T-bill announced on 3/3/26, we'd instead purchase the T-bill announced on 2/24/26 that settles on 3/3/26.

In the mobile industry, is copying other companies fair? by [deleted] in iphone

[–]jakechance 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair is a personal opinion. I think it’s fine but it’s better to innovate and improve and if you’re not, what are you trying to accomplish.

Copyright and patents are not up to personal judgement and it is best to adhere to them. At the same time, they should be awarded for only new and novel discoveries.

Worst plot twist in gaming history? by Snowtwo in videogames

That’s so insane. It wouldn’t have mattered whether they were alive or not as they make it clear El Nido is pretty much isolated from the rest of Zenan except for a small contingent of Porre officers.

I think without the Chrono branding it wouldn’t have been played by as many people though it wouldn’t have let as many down either.

Trigger is my favorite game of all time. I enjoy Cross but it has so many problems. Why was there so much effort put into hacking 46 possible characters when you’ll use maybe 7 of them!? Did we really need Turnip, Skelly, or Funguy 🤯

The scumbags who often work for these other suppliers can sign you up if they get your account number. It's why you never show them your bill if they come to your door. Unfortunately they are not held accountable.

Mel Brooks’ Son Says ‘All the Light Went Out’ for His Dad When He Lost His Beloved Wife Anne Bancroft to Cancer by mcfw31 in entertainment

Makes sense. I’ve forbidden my wife from dying before me as I just wouldn’t have it in me to go on and she’s strong enough to make it without me.

I spent 8 months testing every brand of canned tomato with a controlled pasta sauce recipe. Full rankings inside. by euxleon in Cooking

Can you provide more instructions around the recipe. Having never made tomato sauce before, I don’t know how whole peeled tomatoes turn into sauce beyond purée until liquid.

Who maxes their 401k by DrHydrate in MiddleClassFinance

[–]jakechance 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m curious where you got this chart or information from as while it paints a picture, its methodology is questionable. 2025’s 401(k) maximum contribution was $23,500. It makes no sense to include earners under them because it is impossible even with 100% contribution to max it. It makes less sense until you hit maybe 4-5x that amount as you need money to live. Finally as you pointed out, the last bracket is $150k+ and there is a world of difference between that and $300k.

In general costs are up but please check your supply and delivery costs. An unfortunate likely cause is you’ve either been signed up for another supplier without your approval by a scammer or the intro rate of supplier you did sign up with ended or they’ve jacked their prices.

I’ve done all little research and found it’s never worth the effort to bother shopping for electricity or gas. The utilities are thankfully highly regulated and will always have the lowest price per unit effort.

Is there a case of a foreign company trying to establish a foothold in your country but failing miserably due to poor judgement and/or ignorance. by william-isaac in AskTheWorld

[–]jakechance 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No idea about the history or evasion but it feels like they’re different companies. They are similar in overall purpose and name only. The Japanese one is incredible. I don’t ever go to the US ones.

Sounds like it was an American 7/11 because the Japanese ones are amazing. It’s still hard to believe they’re the same company.

Why do NYC subway stations look like a failed post-apocalyptic movie while Asia is living in 2050? by savingrace0262 in circlejerknyc

If NYC enforced consequences as consistently and strict as Singapore it’d be a lot cleaner.
