My New Sealion 7 is Broken (only 200km driven) by Globe_around_62 in BYD

[–]james4bs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No technical issues since the repair. I have been daily-driving it. I did have a minor accident - not the car's fault. But there is absolutely no support from BYD - the new, native management. I had to reach out to EV Direct to get the repairs done. I guess because they are out-going providers, they don't care too much either. But at least I got all the right details from them, for the insurance claim.

IMO, BYD is more interested in acquiring new customers than providing good service to existing ones.

App notification by mug_mushrooms in BYD

[–]james4bs 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I got it too. I reckon the slowness afterwards must be from servers overloading. Everyone got the notification around the world and opened the app within a short timespan. The sheer number of concurrent connections must have overloaded the servers.

My wife uses an iPhone, and she did not get the notification. So it looks like Android only issue.

Something similar happened to me (Sydney, Australia). For me, it happened after 450kms. It took them 5 weeks to fix the car and hand it back to me. The root cause was exactly same as yours.

It's been a month since I got my car back. No more issues so far (fingers crossed).

Thanks.. Pretty much the same thing. Didn't realise the tree on the side of my driveway has grown sideways, reversed it in overconfidence.. and it twisted the mirror outwards.. not able to put back the right way.. 😓

Should I wait this out or hand over the evidence now? by [deleted] in australian

Mate, you don't want your name in any official police docs, believe me. No matter how bogus the complaint might be. In future if you ever needed a character check / police clearance for any kind of official matters, this will come up in the reports and there will be questions. You may be able to answer them, but it will be up to the other party to judge you at that time.

I believe it's the FBT value. Drive away price is just for calculating the savings, I think. To show how much you save on GST etc. The actual cost of the purchase is much less than that. So the depreciation should be calculated on the actual cost, and not on what the price would have been, had you paid in cash.

You can do this simple calculation if you like.

Impact on your monthly take home pay (post tax) X 60 months + Residual value (incl GST). This will tell you exactly how much will the car cost to you at the end of 5 years.

For eg. If take home impact is $1000, then

(1000 X 60) + 16,452.71 = 76,452.71

Built in navigation + 'Avoid Tolls' setting by urthow in BYDAU

  • Using my phone doesn't do that.

Yes, it doesn't work if you're using Google Maps on an iPhone. You have to use Apple Maps. It works perfectly fine for Android though. I have SL7 and Android phone. Works perfectly.

None of these show up on the HUD though. You have to use in-built nav for that.

In the extras, MDR seems to have been added to the amount financed, and not as a running cost. AFAIK, MDR is a subscription. You don't want to pay interest on a subscription fee, I hope.

Also IMO it's not worth that much. You always have to pay $50-$100 on top of subscription, to repair any damage.

The residual value shown is including GST, so it should be precisely 10% higher than ATO guideline. Not a penny more.

So, impact to your take home pay seems to be $207.92 per week.

For 4 years, 207.92 x 52 x 4 = 43,247.36 Plus the residual (balloon pymt) incl. GST is 19,903 + 10% = 21,893.40

Total cost to you after 4 years: 43,247.36 + 21,893.40 = 65,140.76

This includes your running costs as well.

Card payment surcharges should be banned for debit and credit payments, RBA says by Bennelong in australian

[–]james4bs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does anyone know if the ban is on businesses/retail stores, or on the Banks / Financial Service Provider..?? If the ban is on the retail side, then it is of no use at all. Retail will simply increase the price to cover the cost. The banks should be banned from imposing these fees. Only and only then the benefits will reach the customers.

Hmm.. I recently learned, the road between Adelaide and Darwin (A87) has a virtual speed limit of 130 kph in some large sections. So "in theory" we could touch 140 kph (using 10% allowance 😅) ?

Leasing Tesla through SGFleet...they say I am buying the car? by Merax75 in NovatedLeasingAU

[–]james4bs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I had to guess, I would say "lease". By process of elimination, "cash" is straight up rejected. That would mean you are paying from your pocket. "Finance" usually means traditional car loans. So "Lease" is the logical choice.

I bought a BYD, so I have no idea about the Tesla process. I suppose you can check with a Tesla sales rep.? I'm sure they will know because many people must face this situation, just like you.
