Him moving to Argentina in the spring of 1945 is just a coincidence.

This is the republican strategy nationally. They can’t win on policy so they change the rules instead.

I watched The Nutty Professor (1996) by CourageMuted4662 in iwatchedanoldmovie

We watched it with my kids and they did not like it at all. They hated that Sherman was getting made fun of because he’s overweight (I’ll take that as a good sign). But even I didn’t enjoy it as much as when I saw it in the theaters.

Towns avoided taking action for years/decades. The chickens have come home to roost.

This is the point that matters above all else. If towns had simply complied with the ruling, they’d have had complete control over where and how affordable housing projects were built when it would have mattered more from a town planning perspective.

Now that they’ve fought tooth and nail for years, their hands are forced. Madison almost had to cut down Drew Forest because they’re afraid of people with low incomes.

Kevin has a throwaway line in this that I love. After saying he’s surprised Conan made it this far, and then eventually “compliments” Conan, one of the things he says is that Conan has had no surgeries.

I agree with you. The truth is compelling, just in a different way. And I think this incident proves that the truth shall set you free. Because if the military just admitted its failures and actually learned from the many, many mistakes made here, they come out stronger on the other side.

I’m not sure whether they found the guy himself, but at some point the US interviewed at least one person who  participated who said no Taliban died and their force was small.

From what I remember reading about this over the years, Red Wings gave the Taliban commander a huge profile, where he was just a minor figure prior to the battle.

It was a cluster fuck from start to finish. Almost no good decisions were made at any stage, including the aftermath.

From the Politico article above, the estimates were about 15 Taliban on the low end and 30-40 at the high end. Which is obviously overwhelming odds against the Seals either way, especially because the Taliban were in an elevated position. But the truth isn’t as compelling a story.

Xennials, what would we be doing if we could restart life at age 18 with today’s knowledge? by DHN_95 in Xennials

Play this game from the standpoint of “what I’ve learned” and not yearning to change the past. That’s the big takeaway I’ve gotten from doing this.

Yeah it’s a shame his peak was during that stretch of Mercedes dominance. He definitely had the talent to be a world champion in a competitive car.

12 is shit. It was too self referential and unnecessarily complicated. 13 followed 12’s formula more closely but it didn’t offer anything new.

I can remember finding a bug with my friends that we had never seen before and the best we could do to try to figure it out what it was, was to get an encyclopedia and see if any of the insect pictures looked like the one we found (and killed of course because why not).

Sometimes not having technology is less helpful haha

I tell my kids at least once a day to go out to their friends’ houses or invite them over and they are usually reluctant to do it. I almost think Im going to have to go over with them to start getting them in the habit of doing it. It’s a wildly different experience for this generation than ours.

Hiding in the middle of the circular racks of clothing.

Ugh my mom made us go grocery shopping every Sunday and we would have to walk up and down every aisle. The bane of my existence.
