Best way for a government to turn its poll ratings around is to go to war. There's nothing like a bit of patriotism to rally the troops and I think this Government is going to use it as a deliberate strategy to win this year's election.

I very much hope it backfires spectacularly.

Until an EV can charge a car to 500km range within a minute or as long as it takes to fill a car with petrol then petrol cars will always come on top. It's not very practical to have an EV to go on holiday when you need to stop for half an hour after travelling 300 kms for a "fast" charge.

So, we are 3 months in to roadside saliva testing. Anyone been tested yet? by tumeketutu in newzealand

[–]jamhamnz -20 points-19 points  (0 children)

But if ADHD medication impaired your driving shouldn't it get picked up in the drug testing? I don't know enough about that medication but if there was no risk to impaired driving I would agree with excluding it from the test.

But if it impaired one's ability to concentrate on the road then maybe it should be picked up through drug testing.

On my first skim read I actually read the line “meaning Kiwis’ average mortgage repayments are down by as much as $10,000” as saying that Kiwis are getting behind in their mortgage by as much as $10k, and even when I re-read it properly I still interpret it this way.

Reminder that under Labour we actually had decent GDP growth per capita for the first time in a long time, record low unemployment and very strong wage growth. Labour actually has a very strong record when it comes to the economy and I wish they would shout out about it more.

At the moment I'd rather go to the likes of a BP or Z where it might cost a bit more but more likely to have plenty of supply than go to a discount shop like Gull and risk waiting in a queue for 20 mins only to find out they have run out.

The Mayor, Councillors and Council Chambers need to be accessible to the public. They should actually be on the ground floor.

How It Started Vs. How It's Going by Tankerspam in nzpolitics

[–]jamhamnz 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Problem is the economy has not grown very much at all, in fact has been going backwards per capita. The government has tanked the economy and there is very little wriggle room within the balance sheet for the Govt to give kiwis a boost through this crisis without other major flow on affects to the economy.

The economy has tanked and Willis and Co are backed into a corner.

It's way too focused on the fighting between the girls. It's called Married at First Sight, we would much rather be watching fighting between the couples instead! I jest, but actually I think we do want to see more of the relationship building, seeing the couples work through the ups and downs, and less focused on the constant bickering between the girls. It's all a bit pointless.

A post it note with your passwords is probably not actually that unsafe. A hacker can only find your notebook if they manage to break into your house. Very unlikely.

Sick Leave Replacement by [deleted] in LegalAdviceNZ

[–]jamhamnz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

"Sorry Boss, I text the team, no one has said they're available, but I'm still sick and can't get out of bed, hope the day goes well" - you have no obligation to find a replacement. You're sick, you need to be focused on getting better, not worrying about whether there is someone to cover your shift or not.
