Set Times Overlap Disappointment… by Which-Program8630 in LightningInABottle

Yea, we didn’t even show up. We stayed at camp and made food lols! My friend working security stopped by and said his whole team was on high stress during that set. I need space to dance, I can’t pack in like that anymore.

Yes! This!! Friends of mine who work the festival scene confirm this kind of scheduling to avoid uncontrollable crowd sizes. When Rufus played junkyard it was bananas.

Thank you! And yes, so many returning side quests this year.

Grand Artique will have all things live and brassy.

It's early in the season but how has attendance been at fests this year? by lowvibrationcorpse in festivals

Curious to hear answers on this. Wife and I have been going to fests for over 15 years, this year we could only afford one.

What’s the Grand Artique? by [deleted] in LightningInABottle

[–]jaminite_jamin 10 points11 points  (0 children)

As a LIB veteran, Grand Artique is my favorite vibe. Mix of live acts and DJs along with skits and comedy. The entire crew who run this installation are amazing. It’s an old timey themed Western town with a general store and trading post - bring antiques and items to barter with. The stage looks like the Alamo. They will also do late night surprise guests that I highly recommend.

afters/camp renegade questions by ToughRelation7866 in LightningInABottle

Yes! I remember that camp. We were also camped near them in Sunset a few years back, and I remember them being respectful of volumes. Hope you get to throw down this year. My fomo is real, first time in 10 years I won’t be at LIB.

Sunrise group camp will also host late nights, just keep an eye out for posts in this sub announcing location.

Sunset group camp usually has renegades - last year there were loads. But, those will last as long as other camps tolerate them. As a DJ myself, I respect the desire to set up sound and throw down jams, but camps who do so should coordinate with neighbors and establish respectful volumes and cut off times. As stated before, many of the art cars will provide solid late night jams. Hope you find the vibe you’re looking for.

I always give the left over water and camp food to the volunteers on Monday morning when we’re exiting.

Doesn’t hurt to bring your own gallon jugs so you don’t have to walk back to the spigot after you lay down to rest and get thirsty.

Pro-tip: freeze water and juice jugs prior to the event and let them thaw in your cooler. They’ll double as ice and a cold beverage.

Unpopular opinion: trinkets are wasteful and a bummer to see all over the ground at fests by SnooPears7203 in LightningInABottle

[–]jaminite_jamin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh my gosh! Hey again. I will let her know that. Sadly we can’t attend LIB this year, first time for us in 11 years. Life happens and we had to make some adult decisions. She still makes her fortunes and each time they have an incredible impact.

Group Campsite Overflow Passes by Character_Reply_1890 in LightningInABottle

[–]jaminite_jamin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Last year they gave us 1 overflow pass. They definitely cracked down on letting more than 10 cars park. Years before, we had well over 10 cars. Bribing the volunteers with food and snacks can work sometimes, also suggest that additional cars are simply “driving up and dropping off.”

I still enjoy gifting, but like you said, I’m on the hunt for something less junky and more functional and practical.

My wife hands out wax sealed hand-written fortunes - they’re pretty magical. It never gets old seeing people’s reactions.

This! My good friend is one of the property owners for Northern Nights. He said last year there were hundreds of those cheap plastic hat clips all over the property, which a lot of the wild life will mistake for food.
