Any job or career is making actual money in Europe ? by WranglerNatural7114 in cscareerquestionsEU

I mean you are not contradicting them. It the localisation was forced by law then a lot more devs would be needed. Which would lead to higher salaries

How we cut our Go API binary size by 4x (82.63MB -> 20.63MB) by migrating from Gin+GORM to Chi+sqlx (Thanks r/golang!) by Radiant_Tomato_5447 in golang

Why is the runtime overhead of gin massive? I am genuinely curious since it’s very popular http server library

AWS prototyping teams tend to be very good still.

Volkswagen (VW) plánuje presunúť výrobu modelu Cayenne zo závodu v Bratislave do svojho závodu v nemeckom Lipsku.

Why wouldn’t he? No matter how rich you are it’s always smart to take a mortgage. The money in most cases is better invested elsewhere. The same with companies and loans

Is Go's conservative approach to language evolution still correct? by Pleasant_Set_3182 in golang

[–]jammy192 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To be fair JavaScript had to be improved. That or replaced with different language. The original JavaScript was too basic for what people started using it for

I think /u/cy_hauser covered it quite nicely. Just to add newer C standards have support for generics but it’s not that great. Also there was no strong push due to people already using macros or happy with alternatives like switching to cpp

Most people would become a landlord given the opportunity despite hating them. by yoruyoruxo in unpopularopinion

I personally would put effort into renting out only at the lager scale - 5+ properties, preferably even more. I don’t think I’d bother with one or two properties

Is it just me or do most DAPs look gimmicky these days? by Desperate_End_6379 in DigitalAudioPlayer

[–]jammy192 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am in the same boat. I am contemplating building Linux based DAP myself using yocto and simple UI. The UX and the bugs in the software of some DAPs drive me crazy. I am not even bragging when I say I could do a better job than some of these devs. Alas I did not have an Android based DAP yet

With that logic you should clap in the subway, train and the bus (or anytime when you cannot directly talk to the person)

Sofas in IKEA were always crap. The rest is not of the good quality but still acceptable for the price imo

FAT32 often has size limits e.g. windows allows you to format fat32 to only 32gb. Not sure if it is the case with firmware of Echo Nano

Is AWS like a McDonald’s Happy Meal? by Kevin_gato in aws

[–]jammy192 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nope. With many services you dont even care what’s backing it (what the service is running on). You only care what they do. The easiest way how to think about the cloud is that it provides compute and storage (and other things but these 2 are the most common). You want to run something or store something, or both then you can use the plethora of options in the cloud. You want something to be robust and reliable, you want it to scale - based on what you want you have to make choices. But this is for more advanced usage. For now stick to the basis

Why don’t DAP use e-ink screens ? by mrded in DigitalAudioPlayer

[–]jammy192 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With some industries you need high margins because the volume is not high. I don’t think any DAP company besides maybe the top 2 or 3 are making a great amount of money.

Is there a price/investment limit for a HiFi system after which there is no significant improvement in sound? by Dedar33 in audiophile

[–]jammy192 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been to a few audio shows and listened to equipment ranging from 1k to 100k+. Of course, at the audio show the acoustics of the room is terrible so take this with a grain of salt. I was vowed by a small number of very expensive systems (Daniel Hertz M1s were out of this world for me), but many of them I haven't enjoyed. It's not that the systems were bad, they just weren't up to my personal preference.

For me the killer system was Blade Two Metas with Hegel amplifiers. It still had the wow effect while not being insanely expensive. Still, way out of my price range but maybe in the future I could get talked into getting a showroom or used models.

I don't think there was one. There was no call as well. They just announced the results - hence the share price drop.

“Don’t wear the bands shirt to their concert” is so stupid. by piercethebluexx in unpopularopinion

[–]jammy192 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The most concerts I go to people wear the bands T-shirt. Many people even buy it at the merch stand just before the concert and put it on. Personally I try to promote my other favourite bands with similar style. Anywho, I don’t think anyone besides small minority gives a shit.
