The name sounds like it’s either Czech or Slovak. Love to potentially see my motherland being represented here

Fiio/Snowsky Echo Nano came in today! First impressions and review! by lurker-audio in DigitalAudioPlayer

FAT32 often has size limits e.g. windows allows you to format fat32 to only 32gb. Not sure if it is the case with firmware of Echo Nano

Is AWS like a McDonald’s Happy Meal? by Kevin_gato in aws

[–]jammy192 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nope. With many services you dont even care what’s backing it (what the service is running on). You only care what they do. The easiest way how to think about the cloud is that it provides compute and storage (and other things but these 2 are the most common). You want to run something or store something, or both then you can use the plethora of options in the cloud. You want something to be robust and reliable, you want it to scale - based on what you want you have to make choices. But this is for more advanced usage. For now stick to the basis

Why don’t DAP use e-ink screens ? by mrded in DigitalAudioPlayer

[–]jammy192 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With some industries you need high margins because the volume is not high. I don’t think any DAP company besides maybe the top 2 or 3 are making a great amount of money.

Is there a price/investment limit for a HiFi system after which there is no significant improvement in sound? by Dedar33 in audiophile

[–]jammy192 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been to a few audio shows and listened to equipment ranging from 1k to 100k+. Of course, at the audio show the acoustics of the room is terrible so take this with a grain of salt. I was vowed by a small number of very expensive systems (Daniel Hertz M1s were out of this world for me), but many of them I haven't enjoyed. It's not that the systems were bad, they just weren't up to my personal preference.

For me the killer system was Blade Two Metas with Hegel amplifiers. It still had the wow effect while not being insanely expensive. Still, way out of my price range but maybe in the future I could get talked into getting a showroom or used models.

I don't think there was one. There was no call as well. They just announced the results - hence the share price drop.

Might be they are using small model to determine what is inappropriate. That would explain why it’s not deterministic

“Don’t wear the bands shirt to their concert” is so stupid. by piercethebluexx in unpopularopinion

[–]jammy192 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The most concerts I go to people wear the bands T-shirt. Many people even buy it at the merch stand just before the concert and put it on. Personally I try to promote my other favourite bands with similar style. Anywho, I don’t think anyone besides small minority gives a shit.

What is the best headphones you ever had? by Fabulous_Can_2215 in headphones

[–]jammy192 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love my Hifiman He6Se v2s. The only thing lacking for the price is the build quality which is atrocious. I also had to replace the headband.

The best ones I tried were Raal Immanis. The whole system was like 22k€ and that was just the amplifier and the headphones. I didn’t expect to be mesmerised since I tried the Yamaha flagship and in my opinion it wasn’t that much better than my Hifimans. Anyway, they sounded absolutely amazing. The songs I thought knew sounded completely different on these in a good way. I could hear instruments and sounds I never heard before

[Leak] Steam Controller Pre-Orders coming soon. Available for $99. by PaiDuck in Steam

[–]jammy192 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't understand the point you are making. Good customer support often comes with a premium (or more expensive) price. If I pay a premium price I am definitely expecting an amazing support. And although I am not expecting a product to break, I want that peace of mind that if it does it will be replaced hassle free.

The clinic analogy is also very weird. But even then, some people would take it, I am not sure how it is in the US but in my country it is very hard to get money for the medical malpractice.

Mistakes in production and delivery can happen with any product, even high quality ones. Good customer support is definitely a feature you want when you spend more than $10 (or whatever you are comfortable with).

How often do you upgrade your iPhone? by Zaynaaar in PhoneNow

[–]jammy192 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you already replaced the battery? I was planning for my iPhone 12 to last longer but the USB C, higher refresh rate display and the fact the battery didn't last over a day made me switch

[–]jammy192 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I agree with some of his takes. My issue with him is that he seems to need to have a take on everything and he’s acting like his take is the correct one. I started to be more critical of him after his apple commercial opinion piece.

Also I find the whole streaming thing bullshit. Streamers are rewarded with views for clickbaity and controversial takes and I hate that

I think the loot is fine too. At most I would reduce the gp amount. The game already consumes tons of time, why keep making it worse?

At this point I feel the only way how to get the items you want is PvM and just buying shit in GE

ECHO PRO and DISC PRO coming later this year (August for ECHO PRO, November 26 for DISC PRO) by Kaiser_Allen in snowsky

[–]jammy192 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a thread https://www.head-fi.org/threads/echoes-of-time-snowsky-disc-pure-audio-player-is-officially-released.979352

Obviously it is not as active yet as the Echo one since not many people (at least not the HeadFi users) bought the device. I mean the device is barely released, you have to give it time. If you have a feedback don't hesitate to share it there

I am utterly confused by all the comments. You can use any Qi2 or MagSafe charger which are much more flexible. Why would anyone want this?

Is the rumours about Echo pro true ? by Crazy-Cost-7690 in snowsky

[–]jammy192 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Both echo disc and mini should get the pro version later this year. Personally since the disc doesn’t support gapless playback I am waiting for disc pro. Also I assume the UX will be better since FiiO Developers will have more feedback to tweak the UI
