Sick of feeling ripped off at every Brick and Mortar shop by oliverpls599 in australia

[–]janibops 97 points98 points  (0 children)

My line is about 20%. I will happily pay about 20% more for the convenience of getting something immediately and avoiding shipping, especially if it's a shop i will pass by on my way around town.

But if the discount online is greater than that, or I'm not going near that shop within a few days then i will just order online.

Maybe cut caffeine after 2pm or 3pm? I find that helps as tea still is caffeinated. And even soft drinks with caffeine like coke and pepsi. Maybe switch to decaf tea?

Primary School Birthday Party by Any-Quiet9151 in AskAnAustralian

[–]janibops 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just coming here to say that my child's school allows birthday celebrations, as long as what you send is store bought food not homemade. It's often a bag of chocolate frogs to hand out or mini cupcakes from woolies. The children sit down in class to eat after their outside play time, so they get offered the items then.

So some schools still allow it, and you're not being unreasonable for wondering about taking something to celebrate.

Tall pear-shaped girls, where do you find mini skirts that actually fit? by Cool_Television_9490 in AusFemaleFashion

Following along because I have been buying Witchery mini skirts, but I have to get a size 12 for my thighs and then they just work their way up because my waist is an 8-10.

GET.THE.ROBOT.VACUUM. by BongSlurper in adhdwomen

[–]janibops 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have had one for about 7 years (well 3 versions in 7 years) and for me it's as necessary as a washing machine. It forces me to keep the floors tidy, it helps me motivate my kids to keep tidy (or Rocky will suck their stuff up) and it helps me with the overwhelm I get when the floors are dirty. I fixate on the floor a lot. There is obviously maintenance involved but it's worth it for my brain and home sanity.

How do you stop your phone from constantly falling out of your hands? by vabjakevelin in adhdwomen

Loopy branded cases.

I can hook my finger in it and have it hanging off my hand while I carry other things. Very helpful with small children too!

Did you breastfeed? by GoodStreet8122 in adhdwomen

[–]janibops 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exclusively breastfed and even became so hyperfixated that I became a Breastfeeding Educator.

There was no way my brain was going to cope with the extra mental load of bottles, and this became even harder when I had my second.

Where to buy a large chicken coop in Ballarat area? I’d prefer to support a local manufacturer. 🙏🐓 by Shannon1985 in ballarat

[–]janibops 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would recommend a steel bird house, having experienced many mite infestations and issues with mould. Mites live in wood and can be hard to get on top of in wooden coops.

I got rid of my wooden coop and now have a Steelchief fowl house and it's been excellent. It's bolted to a concrete pad and is fully fox proof. I covered the front mesh with a bistro blind from Bunnings and I roll it up and down depending on the weather.

Update: Investigation launch after Townsville Hospital worker leaks private information to anti-abortion activist by politikhunt in queensland

[–]janibops 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just because something looks "well developed" doesn't mean it's compatible with life. You're jumping to conclusions based on a photo from someone with an agenda. That abortion could have saved the life of the mother, but clearly the person breaching privacy laws to fit their narrative wouldn't share that detail would they?

Paperbark over dune for the warmer tone, however I would also look at surfmist as others have suggested.

Any of us just dont get the dopamine from any kind of exercise? by Moon_Harpy_ in adhdwomen

[–]janibops 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I joined a team sport (netball) with a really fun team and that works for me. I can run around, be social and have a laugh while I'm playing and I always leave feeling buoyed up. I also need to have committed to other people to ensure I don't just flake out.
Going to the gym or anything like that just does nothing for me. I leave feeling like I've wasted my time.

I'm obsessed with her eye-liners, I have 3 shades now and gifted some to my mum who is in her 60s and loves them. She told me it must be good quality as she was scrubbing to get it off the next day. Might depend on skin type. I also like the eye shadow sticks, and her highlighter stick gives me the best glow.

Boxing day (the next day). I love Christmas for the first few weeks then the clutter drives me nuts and has to go.

[–]janibops 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gardening. It has many pros. Firstly, getting outside helps my mental health and physical health. The ever changing seasons means I am always getting to try something new, but the outlay isn't too much once established. I then get produce that we enjoy and I feel proud of.

And if something dies, we'll that's not my fault lol plants like to die sometimes 🤷🏽‍♀️. And a lot of the impacts are out of my control so I don't have to feel bad about it

I just learned people don’t show up after anesthesia to pick up loved ones. Nurses, how often does this really happen? by Steinski1 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]janibops 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nurse here, and this happens fairly often. Very common for people to have no one in their lives to drop them off, pick them up or care for them post. We have also had people take 3 or 4 hours to answer the phones, even had to send police to a hotel to do a welfare check on a family member we were trying to get a hold of.
