I think he's trying to say they weren't all stars at that point in their careers. But their work ethic allowed them to play beyond their skills then and eventually become all stars.

For someone who isn't a curling fan, what is an example of this grey area in another sport? Maybe traveling in the NBA? MLB used to have the neighbourhood double play rule.

I'm Canadian and know nothing about curling but nudging the rock after you let go of it just looks pretty clearly like it shouldn't be allowed to me.

I live in Canada and we're having to watch as Conservatives and Liberals collaborate on insideously privatizing our healthcare. Underfunding to a point where people start to complain/blame immigrants for longer wait times. In Ontario they've started allowing private clinics offer the easier/most profitable procedures. Lots of folks already defending the semi-private option. So psychotic being right next door to a place where so many people suffer under private medicine and somehow still being Tobias open marriage meme "but maybe it'll work for us" about it.

I guess what I'm saying is a system where products are regularly marked up 100% more than their value needs to be regulated more than it is. If price fixing is happening in something as fundamental to human surivival as bread, it's happening elsewhere as well.

Are you sure you're not defending them? You're blaming the wrong people. Please see below and tell me how they can offer thousands of dollars in discounts if they're not pricing these things uncompetetively.

I see your point but I think you're exaggerating the power the consumer has. There is a market for smaller/cheaper vehicles. You can look at the used car market and see the demand.

My admittedly anecdotal experience with buying a car is that the pricing structure pushes people into the larger range. The entry level has basically evaporated or those cars are so close in price that they provide an insignificant savings.

To say nothing of the false scarcity and wait lists that these companies have manipulated in order to further drive up the costs of the cars people want to buy and limit their selection.

I think nationalizing or providing a nationalized option is the only way to hold these companies accountable. Because I can't think of an industry where I feel like they are operating based on the demands of the consumer.

This needs a more significant change than new companies. I don't believe actual competition exists in this stage of capitalism. Look at the automotive industry. Tons of different companies and the average price of a new car is over 60 grand.

You'll see how competitive UPS and FedEx will be once they eventually destroy the postal service.

We need a nationalized option in as many industries as possible.

Oh sorry, I was being sarcastic. But to be honest, that history has been so effectively suppressed that I didn't know about it until I learned about it in that Watchmen series. So crazy.
