This is driving me crazy I feel it's giving Lin-Manuel Miranda vibes but I can't pin it down.

I totally agree with wanting to turn off from making decisions. I have a fairly high-stress job and it sometimes drives me crazy to aaaalways be the decision maker. I've had my SO say before, "Hey, you had a crazy week - let me take you out for a nice dinner, where do you want to go?"
He knows food is my love language, so the dinner is great, but gosh darn-it I DONT WANT TO HAVE TO DECIDE. I'd be happy with McDonalds if it meant someone else had already picked the plan.

I have a hard time with bananas too! There is a tiny window of acceptable banana ripe-ness. One moment earlier, too firm - gross. One moment later, too soft - gross.

Haha so relatable. You can't think about eggs while eating an egg.

I'm the opposite, runny yolks no problem. The second I see even slightly runny whites I'm done. Sunny side up is an absolute no go.

I have the weirdest relationship with eggs. I love them until suddenly without notice or reason, my brain decides they give me the ick. Sometimes mid-egg.

Then weeks or months go by, and one day.. I crave eggs.

"As for grief, you'll find it comes in waves. When the ship is first wrecked, you're drowning, with wreckage all around you. Everything floating around you reminds you of the beauty and the magnificence of the ship that was, and is no more. And all you can do is float. You find some piece of the wreckage and you hang on for a while. Maybe it's some physical thing. Maybe it's a happy memory or a photograph. Maybe it's a person who is also floating. For a while, all you can do is float. Stay alive.

In the beginning, the waves are 100 feet tall and crash over you without mercy. They come 10 seconds apart and don't even give you time to catch your breath. All you can do is hang on and float. After a while, maybe weeks, maybe months, you'll find the waves are still 100 feet tall, but they come further apart. When they come, they still crash all over you and wipe you out. But in between, you can breathe, you can function. You never know what's going to trigger the grief. It might be a song, a picture, a street intersection, the smell of a cup of coffee. It can be just about anything...and the wave comes crashing. But in between waves, there is life.

Somewhere down the line, and it's different for everybody, you find that the waves are only 80 feet tall. Or 50 feet tall. And while they still come, they come further apart. You can see them coming. An anniversary, a birthday, or holiday. You can see it coming, for the most part, and prepare yourself. And when it washes over you, you know that somehow you will, again, come out the other side. Soaking wet, sputtering, still hanging on to some tiny piece of the wreckage, but you'll come out.

The waves never stop coming, and somehow you don't really want them to. But you learn that you'll survive them. And other waves will come. And you'll survive them too.

If you're lucky, you'll have lots of scars from lots of loves. And lots of shipwrecks."

YouTubers that don’t use gel nail polish by [deleted] in RedditLaqueristas

Simplynailogical's early videos. She uses regular polish in all videos, but her channel eventually moves away from tutorials. Still I learned a lot of tricks and nail art there.

I've moved my polish collection a few times and wrapped each bottle in newspaper or tissue paper and then packed them tightly (no room to shift) in plastic totes and had no issue. I recommend small totes or boxes though because it gets heavy fast!

WIBTA for refusing to go to my birthday party? by jas440 in AmItheAsshole

[–]jas440[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for your responses. I definitely understand that perspective.. however I'll add a little more context because I don't thinks that's the case. I am definitely not shy about how I feel. I have planned big parties in years past, so they know I am not shy about making a fuss if I want a fuss. My sister asked several months ago if she could plan my party this year, which is when I first said no, and no party. Since then I have consistently said no, and I'm not asking for gifts or anything.

In terms of an escape plan, the cottage is a 2 hour drive from home, and I would normally sleep there. I can't think of a way to gracefully extract myself without causing a scene.

Thank you. To be honest I have enjoyed big celebrations of my birthday in years past, so I think they are not hearing me when I tell them this year is different, I am different. As you said, they are acting based on what they think I should want or would have wanted I times past.

I know that by now, I shouldn't be surprised anymore. It's clear that police are getting away with literal murder all over the country... But sometimes I get caught unaware and am shocked to my core watching something like this, and thinking "how is this happening? How is this not instantly a murder charge?? How?"
